I'm skipping over many previous comments, but it's possible he was a better suited to design games based on constraints at Williams versus constraints at Stern. Also just because a games doesn't immediately jump into the top-10, doesn't mean it's a bad game. I'm pretty sure if Attack From Mars were released today it might not be rated as highly. I still love mine, but the expectations for a game are just different then they were 25 years ago.
