Quoted from G-P-E:The only problem I have seen with the EZSBC is the noise generated by the switcher that is picked up by some of the sound boards.
My experience is no extra noise from the EZSBC PSUS on the audio system.
Of course on my old WPC-DMD with mono sound the 60HZ hum would drown out most anything else.
Even if that switcher noise was getting in the audio it would be around 100KHZ which my old ears would never hear.
Quoted from BriPin:I put an EZSBC in my BOP and now when I shut the game off it creates quite the pop and crunch sounds where it was quiet before. I also have had the coils lock on twice blowing a fuse but I'm not sure if that's the Rottendog CPU or not.
There is some extra power on and power off noise, but it was bad before the switch to PSU5 anyway.
I just cannot get the argument not to replace the LM323K linear with the PSU5 switcher for the WPC controller board.
The cost is about the same but the back box heat reduction alone is reason enough to throw away the LM323K and that big hot heat sink.
Quoted from Turtle:Here's an alternative and it's adjustable:

Has anyone REALLY had a negative experience using the EZSBC PSU5 in a pin where they pulled it and put back the LM323K?
