I thought JJP had posted that they already had 1000 pre-orders for Hobbit?
My buddy has an Edsel that his grandfather parked with 1500 orig miles on it.
He got sick and died and it's been sitting under a cover ever since.
His 92 year old grandmother won't let him take it out and restore it.
I tell him not to worry, she will be with grandpa soon enough...
Quoted from BC_Gambit:Plunking down this kind of $$$ on dream #2 while dream #1 is flopping around on the floor fighting for life is not for the faint of heart.
Where do get this from, WOZ is not a dream, it's a reality, you've seen the prictures,or are you one of those who still thinks the moon landings were faked

He has posted a lot of things...

There's a project for you vid!
Quoted from vid1900:Sure it's a good plan because you have added one extra safety net.
Get it?
Your order is passed on to JJP through the vendor.
If Jack fails, you sue vendor.
If vendor fails, your order is still in with Jack.
This has already come up and JJP has said no game leaves the building until it's paid for.
So if vendor took your money, doesn't pay JJP, and takes a hike. Problem doesn't transfer to JJP.
LTG : )

The vendors have to pay JJP, it is simple to call and make sure your machine got ordered/paid for.
Jason S has done exactly that.
Quoted from Sunfox:From what I can tell dealers don't have to pay everything right away. There was a comment made a little while ago that a certain big dealer still owed 400k on WOZ. That's a lotta unpaid machines!
Interesting.
Then maybe we would not have to pay in full, because the dealer does not have to pay in full.
That would be less risk should JJP go under.
Maybe a dealer will clarify this.
Rumors, Rumors, Rumors...I will say, I have seen the machine and I have played the machine. If JJP was trying to screw people, I do not feel he would go this far into it. Just because some people are dis-honest do not mean everyone is. Sorry, I do not buy that and even if it is true how would anyone know that unless you have seen the books? FYI: AT&T and Verizon which are on the public trading market at over 30 million in debt but I still buy a mobile phone.
Wouldn't the safest plan be to just wait till it's released and buy it if you want? I guess you can argue whether the pre-order savings is better than what you'd make on that money on your own for the next few years. But if you're concerned about losing your deposit, I don't see why waiting is a bad thing. It's not like they won't be making as many machines that fills the demand.

I agee. Just wait, it seams like a no brainer to me. Find out if the game is good AND keep your money in your pocket till then.

<blockquotecite="#721438">Nobody is holding that much of my money interest free for that long
One of the most memorable posts for me from the last week was someone praising Jack for not charging him interest on the layaway plan for the WoZ payments.
After my mind exploded I realized this was in a resurrected thread from 10 months ago.
Still, it put a bit of a smirk on my face to imagine a world where JJP was charging interest on WoZ preorders, making more money each month that he does not actually ship a product. Reminds me of the Red Dwarf episode backwards...

My bank has been holding some of my money virtually interest free for years

Then you need a better investment advisor
