Is a Bally Captain Fantastic backglass really worth $4K?

Hmm. That would be a hard BG to price, but $4k for two nipples and they aren’t even REAL nipples? Bit of a stretch but I could be out of touch with the cost of real nipples. Or the rarity of un-starred CF BG’s, not sure which. But unobtainium prices go all over the place, so why not this gem?

I dislike that kind of price gouge..

Doesn't really have enough sales volume to give a idea of fair value. So this is just fishing for somebody with more money than brains.

Looks starred to me, but it's been so long since I seen one in person that I could be wrong on that. Heck the whole game isn't even worth half that. The artwork was the only good thing about the game, and that's just the backglass art.

    NO

I believe that is a starred one as the non star original glass should say “over the top” instead of the row of 100,000 lights at top, just seen from the back side of glass.

However, how much is a true original non-stars glass worth in great condition?

Additionally those glasses are known for being in good shape

I recently repaired a machine for someone who needed a Capt. Fantastic glass. He paid $450.00 plus shipping for it. NOS, with stars.

Bally of this vintage hold up exceptionally well.

Around the solid state era (Supersonic for example) when they changed the process not so much. Delamination starting about the lift channel is common.

Price check; I know of an original early production sample Captain Fantastic machine with the reversed color stencils on front, yet fairly rough cabinet and semi worn playfield, but superb back glass (no stars). Are these machines worth a lot more than a standard production machine? I believe there was just over 100 produced this way. Just curious, thanks!
