Iron Man's playfield apron is plastic, secured with 2 small bolts. It was not in my comfort zone to use it to lift the playfield. I added a 1/8x3/4" flat iron piece, used a vise, hammer & crescent wrench to bend and form it. I have attached pictures showing the added bar below the apron.

I haven't worked on any machines but have an IM(and others) and want to know: Do you remove the balls before you lift the playfield? If so how? Same on most ss/dmd games? I scanned the documentation and don't remember this.

I'm serious. No jokes intended.

LOL....I always just stuff a clean rag at the bottom where the ball comes up. If you do that it will prevent the balls from flying everywhere on you........I'm being totally serious as well.

Never just leave them in there without putting a rag there securely or taking them out it's not a good idea.

I use a small earth magnet which is glued on to the end of an old rabbit ear antenna to remove the balls..

I always remove the balls before lifting the PF. I have never seen the underside of a modern Stern game but, the games I DO own all have a place where you can move your ball ejector manually. Just look to see how it actually works and then do it yourself...

More reasons to love this forum. I don't do either of these and think they are both great ideas!

I got a chuckle from this, I do the same thing, have not had a issue yet.
