Welcome! Looks like a VE. What is the history of your machine?

#4852 1 year ago

Yeah it's from 2014 ! I sold my avatar for this one, and tbh i don't miss my avatar .
This game is way better imo.

The games was painted from a airbrush expert in the colour red + glitter. I was a bit unsure at the beginning but now i like it.

Iron Man is a great game.

Was it originally in an arcade?

I don't know exactly probably... It has about 9000 games.
But i think it was.

The balltimes are pretty short :-d

Looking to buy a hooked on pinball arc reactor apron mod if anyone has one to sell.

I've tried to look into the rules, but don't understand what went wrong for me on a game a couple of days ago.

On ball 3 I got all 5 of the horizonal inserts lit. After I got down to single ball after Whiplash MB (the last of the 5 inserts I had to light)....I held the ball and shot up the middle to start the Do or Die Hurry up. Amazingly enough, after getting the ball back to the flippers...I got it back up in the middle shot on my second attempt. I think I got 32ish mil with the timing.

I was expecting it to hold the ball after the shot that collected the Do or Die Hurry-up and go into Jericho, but it didn't. I went on to flip the ball around some more and even started another Monger MB, but where was Jericho???

I can see where that would be technically possible.... considering all 5 inserts from the 3rd ball would only be 5 Marks, I'm also pretty sure I did NOT get bogie chase that whole game (though I am not sure), but I AM sure I collected all of the shiels multiple times in that game. That should have been 6 Marks.

So, I'm having a hard time understanding why I didn't get Jericho? I thought I had seen videos of the Do or Die Hurry-up leading right into Jericho when the Do or Die Hurry-up completion shot was hit???

Any help?

You need Bogie for Jericho but not Do or Die Hurry Up.

#4859 1 year ago
Quoted from Reaper802:

Thanks for the reply. Yeah...I guess I needed bogie or another Iron Man target set (which is repeatable for additional Marks) to get the 6th Mark I needed for Jericho.

I just watched a video and, while paying closer attention, saw completing a Drone set does NOT award a Mark. That seems weird. Especially when you consider getting though the 2nd and 3rd set of Iron Man targets awards additional Marks.

I would think it would be all of the 5 horizonal inserts (for 5 Marks) and then you could get a Shield set OR Bogie Chase to get the 6th required Mark for Jericho. Maybe they felt you needed to see ALL of the sights before getting to Jerico.....though the repeatable Iron Man targets kind of throws that out the window since you can get 3 Marks from them. The Iron Man targets and Drone targets not counting Mark awards in the same way just seems inconsistent and weird.

Now that I know, I should be in better shape for trying to reach Jericho. I think I could have pretty easily picked up that Mark from the Bogie Chase if I would have known or put any thought into it at the time. I could have also banged on the Iron Man targets more, but I was just really happy to have started and completed the Do or Die hurry-up.

Thanks again.

Finally joined the club today with a nice IMVE. Just ordered a set of bumper caps from Hooked. Happy days.

Any tips for adjusting the top plastic on top of Iron Monger?

How hard is to find an IM where you are from? I would imagine you they don't come by often.

Did anyone ever hear of getting metal wire ramps instead of plastic? Would love to change out those plast7c ramps.

#4866 1 year ago
Quoted from glpinball:

Drop Loganpinball a pm he makes all kinds of metal ramps to replace plastic, if someone made metal ramps for Ironman it’s him.

#4867 1 year ago

I did! The only problem was you had to cut your ramps to use them. This was before I learned to make metal entrance ramps. It would be expensive to make the entrance ramps as they are huge and would require a good amount of stainless plate. $1.23 per inch. And they would block the ramp inserts. That was the biggest problem.
Here is the topic when I did it.

Awesome product, if I didn’t already have a spare I would buy another now. Not many good mods for Ironman but this is one of the best for the game, buy with confidence!

They can be removed from the top and cut down back to flush on a lathe or other means. Pretty simple to do.

#4876 1 year ago

So what is the purpose of this cutout on the left ramp ball return?

Thx.

In case the ball isn't traveling fast enough, it won't get stuck there, will just roll out the cut out.

#4878 1 year ago

To let the ball out in case it doesn’t make it over the hump in the ramp

#4879 1 year ago

Exactly what the guys above said about the cut out, however in 12 years of owning Ironman I don’t think I have ever had an issue with a hall not travelling fast enough in this game

#4880 1 year ago
Quoted from lowbeau67:

I only need that one time when a ball went out of control and landed on that ramp. The ball moved so slow that it eventually fell out of that cutout. Very unlikely it will ever happen again.

#4881 1 year ago

So making a diy topper and using 3 8 smd flasher LEDs 13v in it.

Can I tap off one of the flashers on playfield to trigger.

Should I wire in series or parallel or is this a dumb idea.

Thx

#4882 1 year ago

Any wedge based lamps in this game or is it all bayonet based?

Thx

game is at work,

got here and looked under the hood.

got my answers. haha.

Hi! Anybody need plastics for IM? maybe we buy one set for a few person and split required parts to each other? i need 2-4 plastics and dont want to buy whole set for this.

#4888 1 year ago

Shopping out my pin and doing sections at a time and taking lots of pics but stumped on this.

Have a short spacer leftover from putting slings and inlane plastics back on.

Have the two ramps hardware partially removed also.

Any help. Thx

Sorry about so many questions.

Disconnecting all flashers and switches so I can take off ramps and discovered this loose wire on the iron monger mech.

I'm assuming this connects to non banded side of diode like the other colored white wires but just wanting confirmation.

Thx

Looks like one of the 6 spacers that go under the return frames. 3 on each side.

Is your game a Vault Ed.? Mine is an original run and has no yellow/white wire in that area.

Hey thx for reply.
Yeah I used the other 6 short spacers on the return lanes.

Weird.

Yeah this white wire looks like it goes on this switch.

This is an original iron man from 2010.

Thx

White Yellow is for the Iron Monger Opto - see attached switch matrix. It is the return wire.

So I'm installing the rev B shaker from pinball life.
The long connection to the cable from backbox .

So instructions say look for graybrown wire .
The connector that I found to connect to has a yellow wire.

Is that kosher?
Thx

No, it is a 2 pin connector with just a brown wire.

Quoted from Lermods:

No, it is a 2 pin connector with just a brown wire.

So here is the other connector
It's already connected to another wire.

The other is the shaker connection to yellow wire I made.

So this is 2010 IM .

Do I unplug other connection and plug into that connector?

It's actually a purple wire.

Confused here.

What does the connector with the yellow wire run to?

Also, I was incorrect when I said 2 pin, it’s actually a 3 pin connector. I just checked my mustang and it is connected to a 3 pin connector with a brown wire.
