Quoted from HIPPY:The one I have been searching for is the plastic below whiplash, has a rubber on it. I even had on protectors, broken at the screw. It’s got a rubber and goes above his 2 targets.
Next to the magnet.

Quoted from monkeyboypaul:1st run VE - owned 5yrs - never had a single issue.
Seems like IM was an arcade quality built machine.
Quoted from Pinballer73:Reading in another thread that the latest run of IM VE games has been postponed indefinitely.
Did they say why?

The same thread goes onto say that there are 5 other games also in the que for runs. Hopefully distributors inform their customers with deposits of this news. I have an email into mine and hope to hear something after the Christmas/New Year holidays.
Just picked up a 2010 model, game won't update. Is it the U9 boot flash game rom that needs changing? Would like to try before I order a new cpu.

That's what I thought the issue was. Marco has them. You can order it through Nitro to save on shipping.
Quoted from SgtPin18:Anyone have real bad coil buzz? Just bought the game and it was purchased NIB a month ago. Less than 50 plays and the orbit post and flipper coils all buzz pretty loud.
Check the coil stops. I'd guess they have blow out the back. Stern still working through that huge order of shitty ones.
Quoted from HIPPY:Also, in that 11 years, has never broken.
My most reliable machine as well. I bought it new(ish) back in 2010. I've only needed 1 repair. The opto in the war machine went bad. I actually repaired it before the replacement opto I ordered showed up. (Bad trace. I jumpered it)

Check the Boot ROM label. My 2010 model says Boot V3.1, dated 01/30/08, and the game updated with the DIP switch 8 on. If that does not work, try an older USB drive formatted to Fat32. I have used USB drives up to the 2GB size.
Just installed Arcadeupkeep’s under cab LED kit, pleasantly surprised how well it works with the game.

Agree. Changed out coil stops fixed the buzz for me.

Coil stops fixes the buzz? Seems all of my Sam games have a buzz.
Quoted from newpinbin:Coil stops fixes the buzz? Seems all of my Sam games have a buzz.
For some coils if they aren't tight and/or flush with the stop they can buzz. I've had this on a few machines. If it is annoying enough then loosening and retightening can rid of it. Its a cheap zero cost fix in some cases.
I never thought the code for this game would have been updated, so I was not looking
but found out that new software came out in 2020
I went from 1.3 to 1.86
seems to improved the light show
With new Ironman VE's most likely now not going to happen. When did Stern run Ironman last, anyone remember?

I was able to get a VE from their mid 2020 run.

Ok, thanks. So it's been 18 months since the last run?
Quoted from JFRANK:Only need 1 more commit for the reactor pop bumper caps retired last yr from Hooked on Pinball. Who’s in for the last spot?
I'll take 2 sets, if this happens.

Just saw this. Any chance you could post a video? Thinking of getting one.
Quoted from pacman11:Alright buying an Iron Man, What are the must have mods for this game send me some links.. Thanks. Looks like there are several whiplash mods which one is the best?
ColorDMD, speaker upgrade (teeth shaking variety), shaker motor

I made this one myself. It's tied to the Whiplash flasher.

Thanks Mike, I just ordered whiplash online.. Some guy makes this mod with the yellow led ropes.. Yours looks very nice.. Now I am looking for gold flipper bats but everyone seems to be out of them. Also I wouldn't mine adding red lollipop rails too if anyone knows where I can buy them from. I just ordered some mirror blades too.

What did you make the whips out of looks great and a lot thicker than the thin EL wire mods I’ve seen.
Quoted from glpinball:Anyone know where to find the stickers for the magnets?
I’d like to know if anyone in this thread can make playfield decals, would love to add some additional artwork to the playfield around the magnets.
Quoted from Pinballer73:With new Ironman VE's most likely now not going to happen. When did Stern run Ironman last, anyone remember?
Yeah thats totally tbd.
I was told by dealers another run was planned for last year but cut.
Quoted from J85M:What did you make the whips out of looks great and a lot thicker than the thin EL wire mods I’ve seen.
You can buy EL wire in different thickness. This is one of the thicker ones. I did this about 4 years ago, so I don't remember which one it is.
I'm having to do a 1 for 1 replacement with a new game, and I'm considering selling my IM VE. If you're local to CO PM me if you're interested. It's pretty minty with pinfidelity sub/speakers, lighted toys, shaker, solor (LCD) DMD, the upgraded popbumper covers.
< I should add that yes, I'll make a proper posting with pinside. Just scrambling over here, as I wasn't expecting my new game to show up this quickly.>
Quoted from JFRANK:Reactor Pop Bumper Caps Update - Hooked is thinking week of the 14th. Stay tuned…..thanks
Unfortunately, I'm now out with Stern cancelling the run of Ironman.
Anyone know the physical differences between original run and the VE?
Now the original runs can choose LED instead of incandescents is there any differences other than the new angled DMD panel and metal backbox on the VE?

Original run had basic cab art, ve had reflective.
Or do you mean literal physical dimensions?
Also some very minor changes on later ve runs like the magnet change.
Quoted from pacman11:Finally got my Whiplash installed. Very cool mod. Chest lights up and whips. Also installed mirror blades too.

Some other notable differences with VE:
- Clearcoat on playfield is much better
- I believe it came with LEDs
- art on display panel
- difference head -- metal vs wood I think.
In terms of physical, if that is what you are asking, they are essentially the same. Head is a bit different.

and than, if its the 2nd VE run, the magnets are the big ones, and the middle reactor insert is blue...
Hi there, I'm new to the club! Actually Iron Man is my first ever pin! Super excited...
I was hoping that someone would be able to confirm this is the proper part for the magnet replacement in front of Monger and Whiplash

Thanks!

There is a tab on your link that has compatibility. Iron man is not listed. So I suppose not.

That is the correct core as long as it isn't the most recent vault edition, those had the very large magnet cores.
You can also get it here - https://www.pinballlife.com/magnet-core-plug.html
