In the club, NIB 2014 Vault

Looks great! I changed the t-mold on my 2014 IMVault to gold to match the coin door inserts.

Quoted from HIPPY:

Got nib in 2010, never noticed until you brought it up. Mine is chipping on your lower bolt pictured, also. Other than that, never breaks like the rest of mine.

You'll have to forgive me for bringing it to your attention. Thankfully, it's well hidden, which is why I never noticed. It looks like on the VE they started putting washers there.

A friend said he would help me put black mylar/vinyl there as well as some washers to cover the damage.

Sounds like it will work. I still like the original over the VE. I put in plastics protectors right after I got it. That same area, Whiplash plastic, broke, even with a protectors. Next to the magnet, the long narrow piece. I saw it go, super glued it back. Hoping with the vault out, more parts are available. Ever notice the originals rarely are sold? Lots of VE.

Originals are cool and there are quite a few around if you dig... the ve version are more popular also for a reason. Better backbox and display design, display decal, metallic cab art which is stunning. Each to their own but I struggle to see how anyone could like the old screen print cab over those metallic hi rez decals.

Some of it is it came incondescent lighting, you made it your way. Also, the 3 figures were not lit , you had to do your own. Stern got the idea, and put them in VE. Homemade custom is always better, IMO. Color dmd is a must. I have been reading IM since the first comic in the early 60’s, so, you could call me a fan. Mine has been taken great care of since 2010. The cabinet is like new, added lollipop rails,& is still beautiful. A tilt topper makes it really nice.

The metallic decals look awesome. They also tend to peel I have noticed on one's I have worked on. Regardless, I like them much more...

But, I'd still go with the original one if given a choice. I think I'm the only one who doesn't love the tilted DMD design, and I'm not sure why because for glare I'll tell you it's far better...

But I just don't dig it. It always feels to me like the translite was put in wrong.

Coin rejects installed today, Jason of Filament printing is great and this is a quick an easy mod to do, I’m going to try some red Leds tomorrow on them, he also has the Arc Reactor reject button in blue

The t-moulding is definitely better looking on the newer style cabinet heads.

I'm having less faith that a code update is coming with this new VE run.

I saw the code is shipping with 1.84v

The last "Read Me" file update on Stern's website was for code 1.60V in 2011.

So I'm pretty clueless then as none of that makes sense to me. Assuming 1.80v was shipped in 2014 when the VE were first run, but they never bothered to update the Read Me file apparently. In any case, if any Club owners spot the updated read me file, post the link here.

There was never a promise, but I live in hope! Don’t ruin my dream.

Lyman did say he didn’t have an Iron Man himself, and that he’d like to do something maybe one day if he did. Well now Stern can facilitate that and it’s a current game, so the stars are aligned for something special, it’s just not guaranteed.

Just got one from gameroom guys for under 6000. I love it. It took me a week and a half to get good at it. Great game/ not the best game ever but good. I’m happy to have it

#3673 10 days ago
Quoted from Sebastian88:

Like in the photos above

The photos in thecnypinguy post above are the old style stern magnets without the outer metal protector. No decals in those photos just the old smaller exposed magnet cores.

#3674 10 days ago

On both the VE and Original Stern used the smaller/standard magnet core, without any surrounding metal ring (like those used on TWD, SM-VE...).

On IM VE Stern applied a decal of the playfield art round the magnet - it’s really hard to see as they did a good job lining them up, but it is a decal. Cannot vouch for the Original as don’t have one here to check, but I’ll guess it doesn’t have that decal.

You can also buy Cliffy rings that go around the magnet - steel or carbon. My VE has the decal from the factory and I added a Cliffy carbon ring.

Added 7 days ago:

EDIT: Looks like the new RE-VE's have an outer metal ring around the magnets built in, like SM-VE and TWD.

#3675 10 days ago

I agree with the carbon cliffy. Here’s a picture of them on a VE.

Where's the beef on this new code???

#3677 10 days ago

Any major differences except visual look between the carbon and steel magnet protectors?

#3678 10 days ago

carbon wont curl up

#3679 10 days ago
Quoted from Sammy31:

carbon wont curl up

I didn’t know that happened on the steel ones I must be lucky as so far it’s not happened on my STLE, might grab carbon ones for Ironman though as there’s a lot more magnet action.

I made a bunch of those awhile back for people. Can cut them out in any color.

Let’s hope Stern conveniently excludes this version from any potential code update...

Ladies and gentlemen, for your consideration… the “Classic”

At monger, whiplash AND war machine. LoL

#3688 6 days ago
Quoted from maffewl:

Yeah, it had just a few differences!

This may have been discussed to infinitum over the years, but i figured - fuck it - now’s as good a time as any to bring it up again.

https://www.pinballnews.com/news/ironmanlite.html

How the game is different from Iron Man Pro:

* Not designed for use in commercial coin-op locations
* No coin mechanism
* Fixed, non-changeable game code designed for non-coin usage (permanently set on "Free Play")
* New cabinet design for light-duty home use
* Decals on the cabinet (not silk-screened)
* No dome lights
* Magnets have been removed from Whiplash and Iron Monger
* Kicker removed from War Machine
* Whiplash Toy removed

And this answers my original point - it CAN’T have it’s code upgraded, so Stern CAN ignore it.

V 01.85 - 11-March-2020
=======================

- Added a new skill shot rule:
- Activate by holding in the left flipper button and plunging the ball
to the top lanes.
- The left orbit up-post will remain DOWN and the normal skill shot will
be disabled.
- Either lane will award 1M + 250K for each additional skill shot made
(old or new).

- Whiplash multiball autofire time increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.

- Added additional information to the background display effect for WHIPLASH
multiball.

- Whiplash multiball jackpots increased from 250K to 350K + an additional
12.5K per shot made, up to a maximum of 500K.

- Added new effects for WHIPLASH multiball 1/2-way jackpot (the first award
that is collected at the WHIPLASH targets). Formerly, this required two
shots for 500K and 1M. Now, this requires one shot for 2.5M.

- Added new effects for WHIPLASH multiball super jackpot (the second award
that is collected at the WHIPLASH targets). The score has been increased
from 3M to 5M.

- Fixed an issue with the speech for HIGH SCORE TO DATE that would cause
some of the phrases to be repeated back to back.

- Added speech for the flipper buttons in ATTRACT MODE.

- Added speech at game start.

- Added a setting that allows the IRON MAN mode (FAST SCORING, 2X SCORING,
HURRY-UP) to be started when READY during MULTIBALL. The current default
is OFF (i.e. to not allow the mode to start; this is the same behavior as
before).

- Fixed an issue where the background lamp effect for the IRON MAN mode
start ready (the pulsing lights on the IRON MAN targets) would run when
the mode had been qualified but could not be started (during multiball).

- USA default game pricing changed to USA 11 (1/$1 3/$2).

- Added an EXTRA BALL for completing the IRON MAN standup targets. The
current default (adjustable) is 2 completions.

- Fixed errors in text and limit values of adjustments.

- Added a half-way bonus for the MARK SUITS. The bonus is lit after the
third MARK SUIT and awarded at the SPINNER.

- Reduced the number of WHIPLASH TARGETS needed for subsequent WHIPLASH
MULTIBALLS from +5 hits to +1 hit, as an adjustment.

- Added a maximum number of hits for WHIPLASH, as an adjustment.

- SHIELD lanes now light S.H.I.E.L.D. (MYSTERY) after the lanes during
JERICHO MISSILE MAYHEM have been completed.

- Added high score tables for BOGEY, IRON MAN, WAR MACHINE, IRON MONGER,
WHIPLASH, DRONES, and DO OR DIE MULTIBALL.

- Game over effects are terminated when entering test mode.

- Synced the knocker to run with replay/special effects.

- Renamed music and speech volume adjustments (attenuation).

#3695 5 days ago

Well Lyman you sir are an absolute fuckin legend!!!!! And that is a compliment of the highest regards here!!!

Anyone else thinking about enabling this one?

#3697 5 days ago

Just wish he would have done more with the skill shot. Drones not touched at all of Do or Die multiball is still going to be next to impossible. Other updates are fine.

Quoted from Reaper802:

Knowing Lyman this isn’t it, but just with the added high score tables there’s a tonne more life pumped into Ironman.

Actually on second thoughts it might be worth someone trying the drone targets with the glass off, seems odd he’s adjusted whiplash and Ironman but not drones..

#3699 5 days ago

If there was a setting where accomplishing things could carry over from ball to ball, I'd still own an Iron Man. Was hoping this was the update but no.

#3700 5 days ago

Yes a More challenging skill shot like
hold the left flipper
and hit the right ramp be insane

Very cool LS did this

I doubt anything further will come about tho with IronMan

I hope they do but I’m surprised we got what we got
