I ordered the last set

Congratulations! I really like them. Nice mod for a great fun and kind of rare pin!

#3402 5 years ago

These look and feel epic! Going to wait to install until I get Titan rings ordered. Going to see if they run any Black Friday deals. I'm thinking yellow all the way around other than the flippers. I'll keep those red.

Hey all, joining the club shortly.. will post pics when its setup.

Question: Anyone that did the game with Titans, can you send photos? I am thinking of doing clear throughout. Open to suggestions though!

#3404 5 years ago

I like yellow titans.

#3405 5 years ago

There are kits on the Titan site. I used red and yellow.

Here is my iron man with yellow titan rubbers and my space shuttle with clear titan competition rubbers. Clear can be cool depending on the colors of the LEDs. Love them on my space shuttle with the colored LEDs. To me iron man looks best with yellows.

Thanks! I agree on the yellow. I might throw in some red posts too.

Not too much else to do to the game, probebly some instruction cards.

Welcome to the semi exclusive club!! Nice looking pin! Besides a flipper fidelity’s speaker upgrade if you don’t already have one, I’d suggest the stickers for the targets so the call outs make more sense like spelling the word Iron man. Nice finishing touch. Pop bumper caps from hooked on pinball, if available, are a nice add on too.

Adrenaline is pumped. Just picked up a like brand new vault edition.

Question:
I was going to place mylar around the monger/whiplash magnets. However it appears/feels that it has already been installed. Is this something that was done by the factory on the VE?

#3413 5 years ago

Yes I believe so. Mine also has it.

#3414 5 years ago

Just wanted to say hello and join the club. Just picked up an Ironman VE (HUO) 1200 plays. It's kicking my butt!

I love some of the mods I've seen here including the bumper caps and titan rubbers!

#3415 5 years ago

Can someone point me to the latest code with audio changes? Also, I don't have a ROM burner. I can purchase a ROM from someone if that is what is needed.

#3417 5 years ago

I'm in!
I picked up a clean HUO, and added a few mods.

Installed the yellow Titan Silicone rings today along with plastic protectors from Pinbits and the custom pop bumper caps. It took just over four and a half hours and looks amazing. Working around the ramps is a major pain in the ass. I was going to completely remove them but couldn't figure out how to access the lower right and left screw holding the backer trim in. They must install them using black magic or alien technology... (Who has gotten that thing out and how in the hell did you do it???)

There are also a few stock rubbers under the back of the right ramp that I couldn't switch out because of that issue. The ring kit I ordered from Titan had all the roll over rings the same size but when I switched them out the top stock rings were larger than the bottom. Doesn't appear to effect game play at all but a little frustrating. I'll get some photos up once I get good natural light tomorrow.

#3422 5 years ago

Photos as promised including one of the two stock black rings I couldn't get to.

You're top right pop bumped cap is misaligned with the others. Personally that would bug the hell out of me. Nice mod though!

The fact they're not the same colour as the corresponding Playfield Field inserts (Yellow ^ Red ^ Amber) bugs me more than the orientation of these cool caps.

I guess you could change the LED colour to suit...

#3425 5 years ago

The problem is that the LED bulb for that mod is a custom flat disc that fits under the cap. They only come in white. I have those caps installed on mine. It would be awesome if he made them in yellow, red & amber but I don't think it's likely. If I remember right I asked when I bought the kit.

Could you use a coloured gel?

#3427 5 years ago

Probably. You would lose the look of the chest arc reactor though. Might give that a try that though

It has to sit that way per the mounting to fit under the ramp. Trust me it's the one thing that drives me crazy. I love the blue LEDs though and I find it plenty easy to track what has been lit by the playfield inserts on the left, middle, and right orbits.

#3429 5 years ago

Hmmm not sure. Mine are all oriented the same way. Don’t remember what I did exactly.

I forgot the plastics on the caps are tinted blue, so the gels wouldn’t work. The arc reactor look is the way to go.

Agree completely it’s beyond easy to track what is lit and the Arc Reactor pop caps give the game a premium look, love them!

Hey all, ran into a problem with my Iron Monger. It doesn’t seem to want to go all the way up, only to that halfway up spot. Then when it goes down it gets all the way to where it is supposed to be, but then seemingly continues a bit farther and the whole mechanism makes a big popping sound before it stops. It seems like it’s getting hung up on something, but I don’t know what it would be. The CAM is working as it should (as far as I can tell) and I WD40’d the rods so it’s moving freely when I move it manually up and down. Any ideas? I’m relatively new to the IM club, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

#3432 5 years ago

PBaller22 I’m not near my game right now, but it sounds like something popped out of alignment where the motor carries the whole cage up. Post a picture of the back of the mech with the playfield up. And I’ll look at mine when I get there this weekend to see if I can figure out how that would happen.

#3433 5 years ago

Thanks, DaveH ...appreciate any help. Here are some pics I snapped.

Make sure the wires can move freely up and down.

#3435 5 years ago

IMO, Iron Man has the best orbit in pinball history.

#3436 5 years ago

Picture number three, shows your 2 switches and they control Monger and tell it when to start and stop moving up and down. One of these 2 switches could be bad or loose. It's a pretty common switch to replace and not to difficult. If your going to take Monger out, it's a good idea to give him a good cleaning, replace both switches and look into the washer trick. It's been awhile, but I believe you add 4 washers to each corner of the backside of Monger and this will increase his sensitivity.

#3437 5 years ago

Hope to take a look at my iron man this week when I’m off work, game plays perfect, just one minor hiccup, when iron monger goes down, at some point it drops a little near the bottom of its downward movement and then continues down. Going up is perfectly smooth. It is never an issue. I thought it was normal so it would get down quicker so you don’t trap a ball between the top plate and playfield when you finish him off, which has happened at least twice. Would this be possibly a loose arm or a gearbox issue? Other than that, game is perfect and fun, love iron man over my former spiderman VE since it is such an adrenaline rush game.

PBaller22 this picture:

That looks to me like the cam lobe and pin that rides on that white plastic isn’t really positioned correctly. I just took a picture of mine from what I think is the same angle:

6B4EDA35-0993-4F30-AF5F-D7BB6DF40329 (resized).jpeg6B4EDA35-0993-4F30-AF5F-D7BB6DF40329 (resized).jpeg

So I’m guessing you are slipping off the white plastic, and pushing on the bar a couple inches higher. The pop you hear after it bottoms out is that lobe going back over the white plastic.

Obviously this is a guess from what you wrote and showed. But let’s have a closer look at that and see what we see.

And adding to that, the entire distance of the motor and gear carrier seems too far from the monger.

#3439 5 years ago

Cool. I did have a problem recently with the cam arm slipping off, and unfortunately this problem seems different. But maybe the pop is the cam arm going back over the plastic? I’ll take a look at the positioning of the whole motor. It does seem a bit off compared to yours. I did notice that one of my 4 monger switches appears to be broken. I thought it was a switch that registered hits, but maybe it’s a switch that stops/starts it? Thanks for the help!

#3441 5 years ago

Is the replay award set to ‘credit’?

So I get to Do Or Die on Ironman in the PHOF, hit the center shot first time and thought I had collected the full hurry up. Only thing is there is such a big divot in the playfield around the monger magnet that the ball hopped the switch and it didn't register, argh!!!

Definitely need Ironman in the collection now!

Two Iron Man targets away from finishing Jericho this morning. So close yet so very far... None of that carry over silliness either, one ball or go home. This game is such an ass kicker but it's making me a much better player.

Quoted from Reaper802:

That's the truth if I've ever heard it. I've been playing alot of Iron Man lately, and it has had a significant impact on my overall game play. This morning, I figured I would play PotC since it hasn't gotten much love lately, and proceeded to demolish my Grand Champion score. I completed the whole compass minus defeating Davy Jones (battled him but lost). It was almost as if the ball was moving in slow motion. Iron Man is the stuff of champions.

I did mine in an orange/gold to bring out the game and logo colours

Its really hard to grasp in pictures, as it doesnt look right.

But in person, its a great affect.

#3450 5 years ago

The colour changes drastically in different light.

Heres some pics... It actually matches the lettering in the cabinet artwork.
