Iron Maiden orb mod

Posting this here to link my shop with this mod I am selling and to post extra pics. I made this because I didn’t like the flat plastic and wanted a glowing orb. I hav seen a few but they were bubbly and I wanted a nice clear one so this is what I came up with.

This should work on a pro as well but I don’t have one to check as of yet.

Does anyone with a pro know if the led under the plastic is the similar led chip board? Also what color is it

This is what pro has. It’s white. Your mod lights as well as the factory led ? Do you use a jumper connector ?

No I use the existing factory led and flip it over to light up through the plastic and illuminate the orb. The light facing downward before was just ok in my opinion but facing up through the orb really shines.
Thx for the pic. Does your orb plastic have a number on it? I’m curious if they are the same on the pro and premium/LE.

Sorry I meant the clairvoyant plastic. I only ask because a few plastics are different on the two styles

The number is right on the top it doesn’t need to be removed. It is very small

Great thx, that means the orb will fit and work on the pro but the light will only be the single color. Is the pro just a white light?

Yeah, post #4 in this thread shows the Pro PCB with a single white SMD LED.

Just a note on this also, I now will be sending one appropriately sized nylon spacer instead of three that are thinner and need to be stacked. I finally found a source.

Nice mod . Seems brighter than some of the similar mods. I also like that there is no wire on top of the orb plastic. Flipping the stock LED over and using that.

I actually had to diffuse the light in a little bit because it was too bright

Installed on the Pro. Looks great, installation was a breeze.

I flipped the LED board and attached the orb to the top. Light isn’t bright at all... it’s diffused well between the orb and the plastic itself.

Recommended!

I’m not a big mod guy, but this is pretty cool. Not just for looks, it’s also functional. I don’t always notice when the orb lamp is lit.

I have a red plastic protector underneath the stock plastic which I may have to remove depending on how it effects the ball glow color.

If it affects the color too much and you don’t like it you could drill a hole right where the LED is and then you will still get the natural color of your Led

All I can say is wow. I cut a hole in the red plastic protector as you suggested. Protector glows red and orb glows bright white. At first I thought a picked a orb too small but I think it looks just right. The previous orb I had was not very bright. Now I know exactly when it’s lit. Great job. Thanks for making these avail. Love it.

To all you pro owners I have figured out a way to add colors to the orb for the white led. I will be posting color pics in a few weeks ( once I get my hands on a pro to get actual test pics). The price will be the same and if anyone who already bought an orb wants to add color I’ll send the colored vinyl I’m using for free once I have the colors nailed down.
Looking like yellow, reddish orange, blue, purple, a teal green I think, and possibly pink.

I’ll keep updates here

Great idea. I prefer the white myself as it’s bright and matches the orb in the video.

Just added the orb mod. I put purple gel paper under the orb so it wasn't so white. Not the best pics in the world from my iphone. Also, if you have a plastic protector under the Clairvoyant, like I do, the screw isn't long enough to use the original spacer and the supplied spacer. I used one spacer and a nylon washer, as it is thinner, and that worked. Love the mod though as it is clean. Didn't want to run wires like some of the other ones, and can see easier when the orb is ready to go.

Looks good, that is along the lines of the colors I’m working on, hope to test this week. Good to know about the plastic protectors, I’ll add a couple thin nylon washers as well from now on for those with protectors.
