Quoted from hocuslocus:

one other issue I've noticed with newer sterns in general is the inlane/outlane GI lighting usually starts to flicker. Seems to be more prevalent with newer sterns in areas where there is a lot of vibration. I used to think it was the LED itself, now I know it's the contact btwn the bulb and socket.
all four of my iron maiden inlane GI's were doing this, I replaced the bulbs like 3 times before it dawned on me that the LED wasn't the issue... had the same issue on guardians and batman always in the same area.
besides adding solder to the LED casing or squeezing the socket are there any other fixes. maybe filing down the coating a little on the socket itself?

You ever figure out a way to stop the flickering? My lower gi has been flickering with each flip for awhile. Replaced bulbs, flickering stopped for a day or two and is back in full force. Haven't came across any solid fixes.

They dim for a few modes and for a few different things. The flicker went 100% away for probably 30 games with the new leds. No flickering during any modes or anything.

Quoted from TonLoc777:

So annoying. I solved it by putting a very thin piece of duct tape around the upper middle of the bulb. It sits in there nice and tight now and doesn’t flicker. Not a great fix, but it’s working and hasn’t started any fires yet

Thanks. I did this with electrical tape on my Grand Prix that had some loose sockets. Just wondering if there was a better fix than that for sterns. Sounds like this is the ticket! I'll give it a shot

Quoted from Genjuro:

Is there any information in this thread about the super jackpot via the upper left flipper turning off before you can hit it in this thread?
Mine lights up, but as soon as it rolls back towards the flipper it turns off.

IME this happens if the ball is slow to roll back. Needs to make a quick fallback to mini flipper for skillshot to stay lit.

Quoted from Supersquid:

I used to have flicker problems on the outlanes as well. I did the tape trick which worked for awhile, but then it would start happening again. Read somewhere about getting pliers and crushing in the socket a little and then grabbing the spring inside and stretching it up carefully to make it a little longer so it would make a good contact with the bulb. Did that and haven't had a problem since.

Alright. I really appreciate it. I'll probably still just try the tape first but good to have a second plan!

Quoted from Genjuro:

It does this at any speed. My understanding was that it turns off when any switch is triggered. Perhaps I need a code update.
Time to test with the glass off.

Could be possible that there is a switch being triggered somehow during the plunge?

Does anyone ever have any trouble with trooper lock not registering or registering late after the ball has already made it through the orbit? Happens to me probably 1/10 games. Sucks having the ball fly back toward the flippers when expecting a lock.

Can't figure out what I need to adjust. Seems that the spinner is the only switch that triggers the lock.
This is on a pro.

#2339 3 years ago
Quoted from 85vett:

Check the orbit optos. Normally a fast paced ball the other direction wont register the orbit shot when once is acting up but if you have 1 out or flakey it could effect right orbit lock shots as well. Since it's a pro I would expect it to effect tomb awards too though.

Sorry, should have clarified that this is only with the left orbit lock. Right orbit trooper lock and tomb treasure lock work 100%. On the left orbit the opto is after the up post, which makes me think it's something to do with the spinner.

Quoted from 85vett:

Ah, that makes a difference. Yes, I would check the spinner. If it's not adjusted correctly it can cause delayed activations. Friend of mine had that on his pro. What was happening is that the spinner was just barely making contact with the switch enough to where it would activate the micro switch. As such it was inconsistent on how many spins it would register. Play with that a bit and I bet you get it working right again.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll check to make sure the spinner switch is registering early enough to consistently count spins. Seems like 2-3 are needed to activate the lock, maybe mine is skipping a spin or two or something.

Quoted from Eskaybee:

Make sure you’re on the most up to date code. This was an issue on early code. Also, there are certain modes or sequence of events where the trooper won’t lock. It’s quite rare, it seems to happen most often in FOTD or on a ongoing combo sequence, but it’s happened in other instances too. So I’m not sure if that’s the case for you, but it may just be a code issue if it’s rare.
This drove me nuts when it was broke on early code and I thought it was a switch when it wasn’t.

Thanks. Definitely 1.06 code.

I think it's too common to not be hardware related. Happens randomly. Doesn't seem to matter if in a mode or not

Adjusting spinner switch up seems to have it fixed perfect!

Quoted from KnockerPTSD:

May be a dumb question but occasionally my lower flippers (mostly the right) will stay stuck up for a second. Is this a coil stop thing? I already have new coil stops here because i found the telltale golddust in my cab. I just want to check in before i swap them incase there is something else to attend to while im there.
Edit: this only started happenjng recently. I havent changed anything to cause this.

Could be stop, sleeve, or plunger out of alignment with coil

Quoted from Fytr:

Has anyone found silver metal dust in the bottom of the LE/Prem cabinet directly below the sarcophagus lock mechanism?
Had the hood open the other day and there is a nice pile forming there. The mech seems to work just fine, no binding or anything, but obviously it's losing metal from somewhere. Concerned...

Likely upper left flipper coil stop spreading some of its powdery love

Is it possible to add an interlock switch to a pro?

#2372 3 years ago
Quoted from beergut666:

I would assume so, it was added into the newest version of game code, I don't think it had been previously.

I noticed that. I would like to have one if it isn't too difficult and would work.

#2376 3 years ago
Quoted from MJW:

Looks like Pinball Life has the bracket and interlock switch.
If you decide to try it not sure which wires go to which connector as the picture shown of other machine has different colored wires than my Maiden Pro.
I would like to also install the interlock if possible.

Yeah I'm not sure how to go about figuring that out. Mine are different than the premium pictured above as well.
