Quoted from iceman44:Honestly, I think the rational answer is a pro.
I like the extra features but I could live without them.
At the moment it's possible to buy 2 pro's for the same price as an LE!!

Quoted from AttilaK:I ran into all the problems that is mentioned on this thread and was able to solve it. But now running into something that I have been trying to fix for the last 2 hours with no luck. It is a very strange problem and something that may have come out of alignment after putting a lot of games on this machine. I called stern and apparently the fix they recommended to me has fixed several machines now ... however, no luck. Maybe they are BS'ing me.
Anyway, the problem is with auto-launch or even shooting ball manually. It will never make it across playfield to say the super skill shot. It keeps hitting the top post (see pic)... it works 100% since I got game about 2 weeks ago but stopped worked a few days ago. It is very annoying when you get trooper multiball and all the balls don't make it up to the top where it is released at one. I am very disappointed that paying this much money for something and have continuous problems. I took the ball guide off and bent in many positions to see if I can get it to work, but no luck. Hope someone here was able to fix - as per stern it should be just a minor adjustment.
Thanks!
Just set my pro up and going through a few issues.
I have tried everything and auto-plunge hits the top post every single time. Factory setting auto-plunge is 255 and that is maxed out. Tried lower, same.
Set coils to hard - no difference.
What did Stern say to do?
Really frustrating.
Manual works about 50%. Tried a Candy shooter - that worked a bit better.
Wondering whether to adjust this part in any way?
Not bent the guides yet as not sure where etc.
IMG_3098 (resized).jpg
Quoted from bigd1979:Yep mine's at 7.3 and everything works great.....gameplay is brutal and fast also
So, I think I sorted the auto-plunge issue where it hits the post.
For anyone else struggling this is what seemed to work.
7 degree pitch.
Photos of adjustment screw. Had to take off other screws - see pics. And removed right ramp to take off plastics underneath. Then move the metal as near to the post as possible.
At the moment 90% plus success rate.
Manual plunge. Sometimes doesn't work. If I twist the plunger, it then works. I think plunger may be ever so slightly warped.
Will try my Candy shooter rod later to see if I can get manual to over 90% as well.
Phew! And no bending was needed.
IMG_3111 (resized).jpgIMG_3112 (resized).jpgIMG_3113 (resized).jpg
Quoted from Chalkey:Your shooter rod tip needs to be centered on the ball side to side and vertically.
I completely forgot that this could also be an issue.
Anyway probably got 90% on manual and auto plunge and that is good enough.
Next thing I notice is that flippers are quite different to my AC/DC.
On bounce passes they just seem to wobble more?
Is this a Spike 2 flipper thing?
Power is fine.
Quoted from Toasterdog:So I found out my answer after investigating further. The lower support on this wireform is wielded too high some how. It acts like a very small speed bump and causes my balls to hop over either rail probably 1 out of 3 returns, maybe more. On my last game the ball actually got stuck on it during multiball and it took a vigorous shake to dislodge it. I’ve lost plenty of balls hopping right over and into the outlane.
This was my previous attempt to corral the ball. It worked pretty well but created a bounce back effect at times.I know a couple of you had similar, frequent issues. This might be the thing to look for. (I tried bending to correct with no luck)
Had this happen a few times while testing the game.
Thinking maybe add a washer to raise the height of the ramp?
Quoted from Shapeshifter:Had this happen a few times while testing the game.
Thinking maybe add a washer to raise the height of the ramp?
So, I added a washer here.
Much much better. So far, haven't had a ball jump off the ramp.
Hopefully that may be enough......
IMG_3115 (resized).jpgQuoted from trilamb:Yeah tried that setting a bunch, doesn’t seem to effect the angle at all, which surprised me.
Have you got picture of the rail that is adjustable? Next to the mini flipper?
My auto plunge 100% hit the post so was too low. Just curious to see angle of your rail. I adjusted and it's been much better.
Quoted from snaroff:I thought the Top left pop bumper light was an odd decision as well. In general, the GI light when playing in the dark is poor. I've never purchased Pinstadium lighting, but might break down for this title.
It's really disappointing that a company with Stern's resources can't design a better, more robust newton ball. It will likely be a maintenance issue, which effects location games particularly hard. For home use, probably not such a big deal.
My game actually arrived fairly dialed in...only some minor tweaks to the flipper locations that were slightly off.
Unfortunately, my PF has major/visiable "grain". The picture shows the worst angle for viewing the wood grain. When the lights are off, the grain is also visible from the players position. The clear is smooth, so the grain doesn't effect play at all. Just effects the beauty of the artwork. You'd think that for over 7k on the Premium, you'd get a "Gold quality" PF/clearcoat. My AS Pro and SWLE look much better...no visible grain.
I'm told that grainy PF's are the "new normal". If so, major bummer.
snaroff
Man, that is bad luck.
It's like doing the lottery buying these games.
My p/f is excellent but I got unlucky on the cabinet..... at least Stern are good for sorting out issues if it is a clear manufacturing fault.
IMG_3230 (resized).jpgNot sure if this has been documented.
Ball getting stuck behind this plastic. Took me a while to find ball first time! If this happens on LE could burn out the motor on the lock.
Anyway simple fix that works 100%.
Just put one of these dome shaped, self adhesive, picture framing aids in the spot.
Ball cannot settle.
Problem solved.
This kind of thing will work.
IMG_3355 (resized).jpgIMG_3356 (resized).jpgIMG_3357 (resized).jpgHad a weird issue.
Technician alert. 'Checking node boards. Node board 9 overcurrent detected.'
'Check Node Board 9 OVERCURRENT PROTECTION.
Tested it a few times and seems to be back to normal.
And it's back....
Any clue what is going on?!
And when I test it -
Overcurrent Protection. Upper Playfield.
Drive ADDR:NONE
LIGHT ADDR: 1
Do the test and the lights on upper playfield go on and off.
Only thing done to the game is that there are some comet frosted bulbs instead of factory.
And this fault only appeared on 1.02 code which I put on a few days ago.
Quoted from chuckwurt:Take them out and put the factory bulbs back in.
What did stern/your distro say?
It means possible node board fault or a shorted bulb socket in a parallel series of lights.
My friend eventually found a socket that had gone bad but there is no easy way to know which bulb.
I thought Spike diagnostics might be better than this.
Anyway at least node board is ok!
Quoted from Gogdog:What do you all think of this? I can rest a ball on the screw, so it definitely hits the ball every time I make the right ramp, possibly nicking, but also probably slowing the ball as well. Should I try and just bend the wire guide? I would have to bend it a bit to try and clear that screw....
Do any of your maidens have the screw protruding into the path of the ball?
[quoted image]
No way is that right.
Check end of ramp - do you have the black spacer that raises the ramp?
IMG_4310 (resized).jpgQuoted from luckymoey:Is there also suppose to be a spacer at the end of the left wireform?
I have an issue with balls jumping of the ramp and wondering if this could be the problem.
Yes.
But even then I had this issue.
I put 2 small black cable ties at end of left ramp to soften impact and it hasn't happened since.
IMG_4313 (resized).jpgWondering if the auto-plunge mech would work better if the prongs were wider?
There is definite slop in the mech and guessing if poor contact causes various spinning action and loss of power?
If I were a mechanical engineer I would make new prongs to test out the theory!
Quoted from RA77:Originally auto launch was fine (make loop easy) for about 30 minutes. Then it would get lazy after the game warmed up.
After checking mech a finding all appeared to be okay, my distributor send me a new launch coil.
I replace the coil and sleeve and its worse its crap even when cold now.
Coil at factory default 255 Max power.
Ball is resting on prongs fine.
Mech appears good.
The game sucks when ball wont make loop !
Any ideas please guys ?
Well, that is some feeble auto plunge - it should blast round that loop.
100% faulty but wonder why?
Cold solder joint somewhere?
Quoted from ktrain315:Ok I’ll try this again. The X insert light at the super jackpot has never worked on my maiden pro. Is it wired correctly? It looks like it’s wired differently (backwards) than all the other single led boards. See my pics. Can someone provide a pic from theirs?
[quoted image][quoted image]
If that doesn't solve it, more than likely a broken connection going into the node board.
Would require re-crimping which is a ***** to do!
Quoted from Hdmike444:I have been doing that and also plunging for the left lane which awards a big skill shot
I never knew the plunger should reach the fireball loop until reading it here
There are 2 skill shots through fireball loop - 20 million and 10 million? Can't remember exactly.
Quoted from Oxidus:bought this and it solved all problems not registering the loops:
https://pu-parts.com/imd-iron-maiden-pu-upgrade-kit
How does this work? What does it do?
I looked at the pictures but can't figure out how it improves things?
Will probably buy one anyway!
Quoted from snaroff:Hey guys, I bought this kit and the installation doesn't look right to me (2 photos below).
The plastic seems to be covering half the opto...doesn't make sense to me. Is this how yours looked?
Any help would be appreciated. If the designer of this mod is on this thread, please help us understand the rationale of this mod...
Thanks![quoted image][quoted image]
I had exactly the same thoughts as this is how mine looks as well.
So, how does it work?
Minor issue.
Bulb on outlanes keeps flickering. Tried about 5 different bulbs.
Looked under the flipper and can't see a loose wire.
Bulb holder does twist, so does this mean it's faulty?
Repair or replace?
Can't see what bulb holder to buy if necessary?
Maybe this one?

Thanks
Had a few balls get stuck at back of playfield, so took a look and saw that mylar is bubbling and slows balls down and occasionally it sits there.
Anyone else had this?
Remove mylar?
For now just waxed all areas and hope additional ball speed will stop it for now.
IMG_5780 (resized).jpg
Quoted from 85vett:Yeah, I cleaned the end up when I had the guide off. Mine was pretty smooth though. I wound up putting an oversized rubber on the post above the inlane since it didn't need to be all the way up anymore. My guide now rest against it so hopefully it wont be moving anymore. I think now I just need to play with the power settings a bit to get that extra little bit. I'm going to play it as is for now and just enjoy not having a Star Wars Stern like ball launcher to where it's draining all the time on an auto plunge.
One thing to also check as had an issue for ages.
Sometimes ball hits the end of the upper flipper.
Take flipper rubber off and test.
I did a slow-mo video and saw ball was hitting tip of flipper so I had to bend the rail the opposite way to what I thought was needed.
