Sounds like some kind of grounding issue to me. I am waiting to hear back from thE Gameroom guys. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? It's kind of unnerving.
Exact same thing for me. I just left the two screws on the left side (facing the game from the front) out and it's worked fine ever since.
