interesting, never even knew this was a thing.

any video footage? taking one to pinburgh?

#3 5 years ago

Got the email... saw the pics... cool way to intro a game out of the blue with no preorder or overblown hype leading up. But going to be a stretch to spend $7500 (for me at least) without at least seeing some gameplay footage. Who is on code... anyone well known?

#4 5 years ago

Congrats to Joe and PinballSTAR!

i found a video teaser trailer

Looks simple and fun. Like TNA but a vastly different theme. Newspaper back glass effect is really clever!

But $7500 feels a tad high personally. Could be an impulse buy in the $5-6k range.

How many are planned for the limited run?

100 total / 35 for USA

#8 5 years ago

A 1980's feel with 2010's price tag.

#9 5 years ago

Congrats on thier success on producing a small run of machines. Hopefully they will do well over there with sales. But at the price of $7500 there are so many other choices here in the USA.

#10 5 years ago

Will sell to the MUST HAVE collector market. Same as Stern batman '66 LE. As others will post up, not meant for the general market.

We should have The Mafia at York Show in October !

#13 5 years ago

Watching that video it looks real fun! None of the garbage or terrible themes they pile on most modern games.

Quoted from PinballSTAR:

look forward to seeing one!

#15 5 years ago

What impresses me the most is it looks like there is nowhere for the ball to stop to make you watch some stupid video clip or listen to instructions about what you are supposed to do next.

#16 5 years ago

I really like the sleeper approach of announcement and production all happening at once. Wish I could play it in AZ.

#17 5 years ago

I've played both Houdini and Lebowski and the minute they stopped the action, was the minute I walked away.

#18 5 years ago

I’m going to work on getting this game to shows this fall around the country, not just my east coast shows. No promises but I do want to try to expose it around the country based on what we can afford to absorb in shipping costs back and forth.

#19 5 years ago

Busted!! This whole tote bag fiasco was a ruse to build your email list from people requesting tote bags so that you'd have them for this announcement.

Well played Joe, though not as well played as wantadataeast's plans to sell his lithographs by creating buzz around his $3299 imamaculate Baywatch.

I guess you're not lying or you would've made the deposits $277.

Its been a while, but should I send a link over to Gotti or Capone?

Nice looking Game! Art and Sound are Surprising!

Really like the music.
I'm going to be disappointed in o-din if he doesn't get one.

Doesn’t anybody want to know where they put the damn speakers ??

Ben heck already said raspberry pi audio is shit anyway so doubt it matters.

Well it would need an amp to allow louder sound than basic cheap headphones. And I assume they will do that. Most do the amp via header pins or usb though.

#29 5 years ago

Wait wait. Is the lockdown bar plastic?? And the playfield, a cutout overlay? Am i seeing this right? And the cabinet is just decals, no silk screen? And the apron, plastic? How much is this retailing for?? Where are the speakers? Is it just a single driver under the playfield? Would love to see the control boards and under the playfield on this piece...

Nice, do you have a link?

#33 5 years ago

Wow. Yep about what I thought it would be. A Raspberry Pie with a Chinese power supply. I wouldn't pay $2000 for this box. Its all just SO fake.

#34 5 years ago

Game doesn't look too bad but it damn sure doesn't look $7500 good either, especially when you look at Stern Pros for 5600 and Premiums at 7300. You can also get AFMR for $6500 or a MM for 8k. Nice try but no thanks.

#35 5 years ago

$7500 is just ridiculous. And personally I feel completely insulting to anyone who knows anything about pinball machines.

#36 5 years ago
Quoted from 3rdaxis:

Fine, get three or four colleagues together and devote two years to making a game, all by yourselves, from scratch, in your spare time. Let's see what you can put together for that price. Because like these guys, YOU WON'T be doing it for the 'money'.

#37 5 years ago

There's 'constructive criticism' and then there's 'being a bunch of massive funsponges'.

#38 5 years ago

$8000 is still way too high for what your getting, Jesus at least give me a metal lock down bar. Not only is 8 grand for the price of the machine WAY too high but to attract any potential buyer's is going to be a major turn-off and they're going to fail. Nobody wants that.

#39 5 years ago

$8000 for basically a Gameplan pinball machine?

#40 5 years ago

So many innovative things on this machine.
The first pinball machine since the wood rail machines to not come with a metal lockdown bar (Instead it's plastic).
The first pinball machine in history to come with a plain white playfield with no graphics of any kind applied directly to it. (inexpensive overlay)
The first pinball machine since the 80's to have a single speaker in the cabinet. (no annoying stereo sound for you)
The first pinball machine to use an off the shelf MPU (Rasberry Pi 3 retail $25-35)
The first pinball machine based on an older EM style layout to not come with a metal upper ball guide or any metal guides at all (all plastic) Should last forever.
The first pinball machine to come with a completely fake plastic apron. Technically not an apron at all. (no insertable instruction cards)
There are so many innovations I can't keep track, a cabinet with butt-jointed corners (no mitered joints).
Decals on the cabinet and backbox (no silk-screening) An inexpensive $35 10" LCD monitor and I bet the back glass isn't glass at all!!
And all for the low low price of $8-8500!!
Why buy a brand new Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball Machine or any Stern for nearly $2000 less when you can have this generic themed beauty!!

I'm sorry if anyone feels this comment is at all unfair but this is all based on facts of the very machine itself. And I know how facts are a hard thing for some people to swallow (lots of that going around lately) but never the less. I applause any new company attempting to break into the market of pinball machines Lord knows it's not easy but this attempt feels wrong and i would even go as far too say a bit of a scam considering the price. This machine when you look at the sum of it's parts and other machines on the market (TNA) should retail for $3-3500. Eight grand is an insult and feels like they're just "cashing in".

#41 5 years ago

Like many other posters have mentioned, $7500 is laughable, really. So many great options at that price point. If I see one I’ll still want to flip it (like Thunderbirds) but anyone that knows a little amount about pins shouldn’t be duped into this one.

That feels exactly like what they are trying to do. I would assume that they are about 80k invested but if they sell all 100 machines they will make $800,000
And for a machine in my professional opinion is only worth $12-1500 conservatively. $35-4000 retail.

Not true, spooky machines come with a pretty janky apron.

Every Pro.

#46 5 years ago

Strange Science has a plastic apron cover
TESB has a plastic apron cover, not sure about other Hankins

#47 5 years ago

Atari games also come with a flat plastic apron cover versus a molded apron, so it's nothing new.

#48 5 years ago

That's all fine and dandy guys but for $8000 I want a God damn metal apron, a metal lockdown bar, metal ball guides, a real playfield, mpu, cabinet, backglass, three speakers, and a dmd that costs more then 40 dollars...

3rdaxis...is your first name Andrew by any chance?

You seem to be driven by a serious personal agenda. Behavior such as yours is very unusual, even for Pinside.
We heard you the first time, let it go please.

No it's not Andrew it's Joseph. Just very passionate about pinball and simply pointing out facts here. So please don't tell me what to do. People need to understand what they are getting for their money because none of these facts are pointed out by the manufacture. Is that understood?
