Hello everyone!
We would like to announce the start of a very exciting project that we
have been working on for a few months now. https://www.pinswaprentals.com/ . Hopefully
this is a welcome and fresh idea that has some value here on Pinside.
Pinswap is a Peer2peer rental platform for all coin operated machines.
Obviously we put Pin in the name because like you we are obsessed with
pinball! Here at Pinswap we truly believe that we have a place in every
segment in the Pinball industry. Whether it's a distributorship, an
operator, competitive player or a hobbyist there is something here you
will like and could use!
We have put in great efforts to make this an easy way to look up
machines, to rent them from like minded hobbyists and to help facilitate
the growth of our hobby. In an effort to make this safe, easy and fun we
have made sure that all transactions are through either Stripe or
Paypal. Both have very strong reputations of protecting online transactions!
Another feature of Pinswap that we are extremely pumped about is that we
were able to acquire insurance for every pinball machine rented through
Pinswap. This will protect your machine up to a value of $10,000! Theft,
fire, major damage will all be covered under our insurance policy! No
need to go out and find your own insurance!
How does this work?
Well it really is as easy as any online market place. You sign up with
an account (Free). From there you can either browse in your area via zip
code or a map. And see what is available for rent in your area. If you
choose to put your machines up for rent click "Post a Machine" and
follow the directions. Add pictures, a description and any rules you may
have regarding your machine (Non smoking house required, no pets, first
floor only... etc.).
The owners of the machine will deliver and set up the machine, and the
renter should be there to ensure that the machine is in working
condition. The owner always sets the price and time frame. We have
everything as a monthly rental but we are just fine if you want to rent
machines for a week or a weekend! It is up to you!
After the transaction is complete and after the owner picks up the
machine, a review option will appear. Here you can review each other and
rate the experience as a positive or negative. You can then put write a
few sentences explaining why it was positive or negative and boom! You
did your first rental!
The ratings and review section will be incredibly important. It will
weed out the bad renters and owners pretty quickly. Although there are a
few bad apples in the pinball community, I strongly believe there are a
lot great people here and I expect the majority will have very positive
experiences with Pinswap.
Why?
Distributors- Great lead generation! You will find out pretty quickly
who is a pinhead in your area! You can put your used and slow moving
inventory up for rent to make a solid monthly income. You would rent to
those who may not be well off enough to afford a pinball machine, but
still wants to play pinball in the safety of their home! Vastly
increasing your customer base!
Also it would be a plus to show off that Stair Climbing Escallera!
Operators- You have the equipment, you maintain the machines, you have
already done the hard work. Now you just need bars to open and full
capacity! Due to Covid-19 renting machines may be a great option for you
to make much needed income. Newer Stern Titles should rent out around
$400-$500 a month. If your local bar/venue isn't providing that maybe
this is a better alternative. Plus you dont get the wear and tear you
would get at a bar.
Collectors- I love my machines! I know you do as well. I can already
hear some of you pinsiders talking about how they wouldn't allow anyone
to touch their Circus Voltaire! We hear you! If you have a crazy nice
pristine collection, then no... this is not for you. But if you are like
us, you have quite a few games in good/great condition and like every
collection there might be the one or two games you just don't play
enough! What about always having to sell a game because you ran out of
room and you have a new game coming in? Well why not put some of these
machines up for rent? Make $300-$500 per machine per month. Treat it as
a small business. Advertise, put up your listing on Facebook or
Craigslist and get these machines rented! 3 games at $400 a month means
you could afford a Stern Pro every 5 months! That is a nice side hustle!
Pinball fans- Listen I know you would love to own a pinball machine!
Maybe you do own a few, but the price just seems to keep getting higher
and you are slowly (or extremely quickly) getting priced out of the
hobby. Instead of having to save up $6k to buy a TMNT why not pay $500
to rent one for a full month! Play the hell out of it, get your fill,
learn the rules and really get a chance to enjoy pinball in your home!
Competitive peeps! Have you ever had a game you wish you could just own
so you can master it?
And after a month, rent another machine!!!!
