Behind-the-scenes stuff like this helps you understand what a tough business pinball manufacturing must be. It's really easy to play finished games and complain that they should have done this or that, but we don't always know the whole story. Maybe an idea or feature was too expensive, too heavy, too unreliable, etc. I particularly liked George's comments about "designing in" the quality.

Well he does make it sound like the new platform has been in the works a long time, so I wonder if you are partially right that they'd be buying time for the new games on the new system.

I guess his comment about it being a slow rollout may mean they may be testing some internal changes that you wouldn't even be able to see. Obviously we saw a new backbox design starting with Star Trek and it'd be hard to believe they would do that without planning ahead for when they no longer use DMDs. So maybe we'll see changes trickle into new games rather than all at once like Pinball 2000 or something.
