This has been driving me nuts for over a year now. My snake switch will register intermittently. Sometimes it is fine, sometimes it has to wait for ball search to kick it out and sometimes it will kick it out and hiss (audio clip) but the hit doesn't register in that it stays lit and the PF snake inserts don't light when they should. The last one really confuses me as the switch is clearly registering but only partially and I don't understand how it can do this.

I have replaced the switch and diode, direct wired the connection to the switch to get rid of the cheap stern connector, gone through every other switch on the row and checked other connectors reseating all of them. Gone through and jiggled wiring around to see if there seems to be any sort of pinched wire. Reseated all board connections. It has the newest code which has not changed anything.

I sort of live with it but would really like to figure this out once and for all. I am now starting to think, particularly given the partial registering it could be board related. Any suggestions?

Start a game to get a ball in the shooter lane.
Turn it off.
Pull the glass and place it aside.
Grab the ball.
Power up the game.
Roll the ball into the snake.
It should immediately eject the ball.
Repeat 10,20,30 times.
Any odd behavior?

Just did it. The first 10 it hissed and ejected the ball. Then a few times it ejected (immediately) but no hiss. Then back to hiss and eject. No fail to registers at all but it can go many games and be fine.

It hissed in Attract?

Doh I had it on.

Just did it about 100 times and seemed fine. It may be something loose or a pinched wire but the odd behaviour on ejecting but not registering has me wondering.

That's why I wanted to test it in Attract. That bypasses the game code and runs a "ground level" if this switch is closed fire solenoid X. This tests the physical connections and functionality of the switch. If it behaves normally in attract but abnormally during play there may be some issues with the code dealing with that switch.

Have you tried reloading/a different rev firmware?

Makes sense of course but not at the time lol!

I have the newest code, 1.8 installed the other day so no change. Do you mean something different by firmware?

And thanks for this BTW!
