I was watching a PAPA video on Cyclone, and the guy playing did this interesting move, i'll try to explain:

While trapping the ball with one flipper, he released the button and somehow "mini- flipped" the ball to the other flipper when the ball was at the tip of the flipper. Now it wasn't a bounce off the slingshot. It was actually like a very gentle flip to the other flipper.

How?

I think they call that a 'Bounce Pass' I could be wrong though, it's really cool when executed properly

#3 12 years ago

I can bounce pass back and forth on Mata Hari with ease but have trouble doing it on newer games.

#4 12 years ago

the tip being the beginning of the flipper where the post is or the tip as the end of the flipper?

#5 12 years ago

That would be called a "tap" pass, it works very well on older games especially...like my 1980 Skateball for example..

You just barely tap the flipper button...takes practice...

#6 12 years ago

i am not sure you can do it on newer games with fliptronic boards and microswitches.

#7 12 years ago

yeah, tap pass. That kinda sounds like what it is.

Really cool when you see it. Just makes the ball hop over to the other side.

You don't see it too much on modern games because it's much harder to do.

Here's Robert Gagno doing tap passes on an early SS game.
