Quoted from dmbjunky:Any advice for someone wanting to open an arcade? I've contemplated selling my house and moving into a building downtown of a small town close to a bar or restaurant. I would open the arcade after I get home from work and have it open for the weekends. This is not something I would do soon but I'm thinking years down the road.
For 5 years as of November I've been a guest with my games places.
Foot traffic is key, how hip the average customer is is key, how enthusiastic each location is is key and if the game is the right fit.
These factors I believe apply to an arcade if it was a solo thing.
What you're talking about possibly doing sounds something like D&D pinball in Tucson Arizona.
It's historically been open just evenings/weekends and in a mega hip area with great foot traffic.
"IF" I did something on my own thing it'd just be a straight up arcade, coin drop, unique/good games,
Candy bars and energy drinks (get them hyped), no alcohol, misc merch like shirts, etc...
The overhead in general to me must be mega low, traffic can't be sit on fucking hands slow,
word of mouth must travel fast, it's gotta catch on quick, tournaments help a lot and ya gotta hustle hard!
