Quoted from snowvictim:

Oh, that's very interesting. So basically you bolted the t-nuts in by screwing in the bolt? I was going to go for the hammer method, but I might actually try this instead.

Be careful hammering. I hammered one playfield and had zero issues. Then a friend showed me how his inserts got loose because he was hammering the tnuts in. So since then I’ve used a contraption about like the one in the picture above.

Only downside is it puts some pressure on the tnut threads but that hasn’t seemed to be much of an issue. I did have to pop one tnut out and replace it but the second one went in easier.

Also it’s good to clean the clear out of the holes and edges of holes before driving in rails, posts etc. anything to help and make sure you don’t crack the clear coat.

Quoted from PittPin:

I just finished installing them on my new TAF playfield. I opted to use a molly bolt puller. I use a felt covered piece of wood, run the bolt (which I had to order because local stores did not have one long enough in 6-32 or 8-32) through the playfield and through the t-nut. I add a washer the size of the t-nut and a wingnut. Then the puller literally pulls the t-nut straight in. I tried just using thee bolt and tightening it but could not get it pulled in tight enough. I found that the hex nut bolt was better than the phillips head though. It is a lot slower than hammering and probably overkill but I am babying this first playfield swap. Also, for the recessed t-nut holes I used a 1/2" forstner bit to remove just the clear from the recess and it worked good.

This may just be a brilliant idea. I'm going to pick it up and try it on my next playfield.
