BackGlass Botton Lift (resized).jpg

Hi Guys,

Going to be ordering a replacement backglass from CPR for my Rolling Stones.

After all these years this will be my first time replacing a backglass. I want to make sure that I don't screw it up. Sounds easy enough, but on these old backglasses, a lot of time you will see electrical tape or something else along the bottom of the backglasses as well. I always figured because the lift bar was loose.

I've never removed a lift bar either. And they all have seemed nice and snug, and I never wanted to attempt it for fear of pullin' off the ink.

Basically, I guess I just need to know if there are any tricks or tips anyone may have.

Thanks so much, guys!

Tim

I, too, have a question on replacing the backglass.

I removed my Williams 4-player backglass probably a year ago. (It just lifted up.) I cannot fit it back in, though. The lift bar has nibs that prevent the glass from seating all the way into the channel. Thus, when the glass is inserted into the top slot, the lift bar extends past the bottom slot and cannot be raised high enough. I tried to hammer the bar to seat it but this didn't work.

Any suggestions?

looks like the wrong size lift bar.
You need to measure the thickness of the glass.

The glass is 0.1930-.1945.
The lifter slot is approx. 0.1655 x 0.575.

Yes, the numbers don't make sense. But this is the only machine to have the backglass removed, and it's the only lifter that I have. So, it had to have come out of this machine.

I see that Amazon has one; maybe I should start looking for one.

I've replaced at least a dozen. Early SS Bally used 3/16" glass, later games went to 1/4". Gatecrasher here makes the trim everyone sells, plus the plastic trim is free. Better price buying from him direct. To remove, lay glass artwork side up on something soft. I use a piece of 3' 2" x 2" oak laying it on the glass. Using a plastic mallet tap the old trim off the backglass. Work slowly and it will come off. I use 3M friction tape (Home Depot) directly on the glass in 3 spots. Sometimes 2 pieces of tape are needed for a snug fit. The plastic mallet will snug it in place.

Marco has the one that I think will work.
I sent a note to Gatecrasher but the email and telephone number listed is wrong. Now I see the ziww45 is really zjww45, so I'll try again.
Thanks for your help.

Yes I have both the trim for 1/8" and 3/16" thick backglasses but as tomdrum mentioned, I am out of town stuck in New Jersey riding this crisis out.

I am scheduled to fly back home next Friday but I probably won't go back for another few weeks.

here's my parts flyer......
