Hi folks,

I recently picked up a very nice condition Williams three-chime box and am thinking it might be neat, and not very difficult, if I could insert it into my Doodle Bug table that only has a one-chime box. Has anyone done this before?

The jones plugs are different, yes (a 1x4 vs. a 2x3 plug) but I'm thinking I could just run the wires for the solenoids of the three-chime unit to the corresponding 10, 100 and 1000-point relays, right?

I'm not going to try this anytime soon (a lot of other stuff to fix in the meantime) but just wanted to toss this idea into the ring and see what everyone thinks.

Oh, and yes, I have the schematics and the booklet that contains the technical info for the relays.

Pretty easy to reverse too if you don't like it, or before you sell. I say go for it. I added a vintage chime unit to my 'Apollo' recently and love it. (same as it's brother Blast Off has) I had to split the ten point wire off the match/bell that rings 1 pt as well. Now it chimes for 10 points and has a big loud bell for 100s. This way I can track score without looking up while the ball drains down the center! You will have to figure out where to tap into to signal teh correct chimes, but could be pretty cool. Let us know if you try it.

Cooool. Thanks for the input! I'll post to the list if/when I ever try to tackle this project and my notes.
