After my original clock board started to flake out I decided to replace it with Ingo's rainbow LED version. Just wanted to post a few pictures and video of Ingo Kramer's Twilight Zone Clock Board. Got it from Germany in 4 days to my home in Jersey. He was quick to reply to my questions via PM. I also got some blue LEDs which I may play with later, but don't see how it can look better than the rainbow. The clock looks stunning now, definitely worth the money.

I also added a blue clock housing which I got from mantis amusement for $50 (most vendors want $100+). I also have the blue front lens but decided to try out the clear for now. They are $6 each.

I want to go with that board set for my tz. But i already have a lizard clock board in it. I wonder if I could just change the leds on my board.

The surface mount LEDs the Pinball Lizard board has are not easily replaceable, unless you have a suitable same-size replacement. Removal of the existing LEDs tends to destroy them. You can, however, solder in the cheapest regular 555 LEDs. Just remove the base.

I like that everything on the Ingo board is socketed. Too bad that wasn't around 12 years ago when I needed it, lol.

Just installed my white face 2 weeks ago with rgb lights and wow looks amazing .I also flame polished the clear clock housing but yea all this added another dimension to the game and probably my favorite mod 20150202_125629.jpg20150202_125629.jpg

You should try a white face it shows the colors really well compared to the color face but the color dont look bad . I need to get that stuff u put on the gears I keep forgetting

#8 9 years ago

I thought about the white clock face. You can get both color and white plus a new front clear face for $20 on ebay. Might give it a try.

I like how he says he fixed the missing '5' and '7', yet all his auctions still have them missing.

Nice. WHere did you get the clock decal between the ramps etc.

Doostur:

Where did you get that crystal clear clock housing? Everyplace I look just has the slightly opaque one that looks dirty all the time...

#15 9 years ago

It came with my TZ. I cleaned it using warm water and soap. However it does not appear to be original.

I may sell it... no use for it.

I could actually use it - since I got rid of my blue one, I found that my original one was discolored (age & heat, likely), so I have that on my 'restoration to get' list.

Im thinking you can stop Saturday after that mmr party if you want but I think the weather may be bad?

Yeah, we'll see. I may leave it early if the weather looks really bad. I live on a small mountain range, and the roads by me are steep, so it's easy for me to get stuck.

I love Ingo's clock board. I had rebuilt my OEM board back in 2002, and it was starting to give me issues again. I'm glad I found out about the new board.

Am I the only one that installed the optos backwards, the first time?

My game had the original board in it up until this restore - it lasted 21 years with some small occasional fixes to it. I could put it back in, but decided that I'll put the original in a bag, save it, and ordered Ingo's. Went with warm white, and he threw in rainbow and blues for free. Nice guy.

Let me know if you do want to sell it, then. I would definitely be interested in it!

Here is an e-mail, I got today - sweet 5 year old daughter

".... Thank you very much for the TZ clock board that just works great: I've just had no bug at all during a full day of use and the rainbow leds are definitely a great upgrade. Even my 5 years old daughter immediately noticed it and asked why the color was changing. ...."

#28 9 years ago

I agree. If I was going to install the RGB LEDs, I would also install the white clock face. However, it's all personal preference.

I was really happy to rid myself of my flakey OEM board, and I installed a new clear housing. My old one was slightly discolored and the ventilation holes the previous owner drilled in the top, was a hack job.

Right now I am using the warm LEDs. I may swap them out for the cool white LEDs, as it will more closely match the cool white LEDs I had installed in my OEM board.

Here is another video with the colorchangig rainbow-LEDs. WOW, that looks really great. The top-quality HD-video was made by Marc from he US, many thanks to Marc. Here we go:

Can the Ingo board still be purchased? I can't seem to find anything when I google it to buy one.

You can PM him here on Pinside... I just installed one to my TZ - it is the ONLY board (I have 4 different ones) that lights correctly with the very important GIOCD board
