my poa isnt working, it doesnt work in test mode and optos dont trigger. I removed motor and hooked power to it and it spins and gear looks nice, so i assume motor is good, i ordered the great lakes opto board. Theres another board (see pic)under pf that motor hooks directly to, i think its called brige driver board in manual, a-15946. I dont see the red light on, should it be? where to order that board if its bad? how do i test it? thanks, bear with me im new to fixing pins.

Your flipper button opto boards have two sets of optos on each side.

In switch edge test, do they all work ?

Doesn't look like you have enough wires or leaf blade switches. You do have some taped wires there.

The optos not for flippers control the POA on those flipper button opto boards.

I'd fix that mess first and then see where you are at.

man i didnt even think about that, without the original opto flipper board theres no way for it to work? the guy i bought it from says the poa was working a few months ago and stopped, is this possible with these leaf switches for flipper switches?

I think you could look at your creature for reference of what its suppose to look like and what you need to get it back to stock.

Yes, LED is always on if machine is on, it is powered by powerdriverboard J116/117/118

First order of business is to get power to your bidirectional motor board. The flipper cabinet switches can wait. Check the connectors that zaza noted.

ok i finally found and ordered the motor board to poa, thanks to you guys. The next board i would like to replace is this.....
my Indy calls for a A-13901-2 opto ramp switch board, it doesnt seem to be sold anywhere. I see the A-13901, it looks the same except it has 7 idc plugs instead of my 4 in the same configuration. Does anyone know if I can buy that one and just not use the 3 plus on the left? Heres a pic of mine, no comment on those idc's, im going to replace all those when I get a new board.

P.s. remember if anyone is coming to Kauai, look me up, pins to play and I can show you around.

Is the rest of the game that corroded? Those screws look in bad shape.

#13 9 years ago

It's a multi-configuration board. The one with extra headers should work fine.
Yes...have fun with repinning those...

If your POA motor doesn't at all work I would reflow the first board you pictured. Then see what you have. The POA opto board may be ok. The motor should move even if the optos are not working it just won't know when to stop moving one direction.

#15 9 years ago

I'd agree with Chriszg. I don't think you need to replace that board.
There isn't much to fail on it, and the parts on it are easily tested or replaced.

thanks Chris, im ordering a new ramp opto board. Its $35, start new, replace the idc's, go from there. I have no idea how to fix or check boards. Metal and Hawaii dont mix.

#17 9 years ago

guys, the wires on the idc ramp opto board in pic, does that look like a 18/156 or 22/156?

#18 9 years ago

Well...it's definitely .156.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's 22 guage wire.
But, it's just a guess.

That's the problem with IDC connectors.
Using crimp on connectors eliminates this choice although the right crimp on pins need to be acquired.
