Quoted from Blitzburgh99:

I took your advice and lowered pitch down. It’s still between 6.5 and 7 range, and it made the game much more playable. When it was too steep, I was just reacting to balls flying everywhere instead of shooting for things.
It’s still an ass kicker! There are very few, if any, lulls in the game. In and out of multiballs, modes firing up left and right, grabbing laps and positions....very good game by Nordman! Gotta give a bunch of credit to Mike Boon and Craig Sylla for the great code, too

I don’t think I had mine as aggressive as you did... but getting it down to a decent 6.5 did wonders for my enjoyment of the game. That and tweaking the upper lanes and rebuilding the pops so the ball didn’t fall through the middle lane pass through the pops unscathed every time.

But a steep pitch makes Indy almost impossible, for sure!

You’re right, cool design. And it’s not a common game. Cool stuff

I need to do the same. The green flag kickout takes a few hits before it goes through the gate. Usually only makes the P lane. Top left pop bumper barely working. Need to dial all of those in, too.

Fresh rubbers up in those lanes... play with sizes. And new sleeve, clean bat on the kick out saucer. Really helps keep the ball randomized across those three upper lanes.

I just picked up a bunch of new parts and I'm not going to keep everything. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in something. The playfield was clearcoated by Draino (looks gorgeous).

I’m having an issue with my Indy in that the left flipper switch is always on. I can see in the switch test that the square for it is filled in. The minute I unplug the flipper board it goes away, touching the plug to the board sets off the switch. I’ve tried swapping boards and the problem is still there. Any suggestions?

How do you like the ColorDMD? I just ordered a ColorDMD LED and can't wait to check it out.

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:

Put in colordmd, and lowered the pitch a little. Made it to 200 laps for first time, but I’m running 0.6 code and the Victory Lap didn’t light. ... ooh so close to 1st place! Highlights included a 7x Bonus multiplier that brought in 571M points!

Has anyone installed a NextGen Translite in their I500? Would you recommend?

I'm getting the following error messages:
Turbo Error - Sensor Opto Error
Turbo Error - Check Turbo Unit

In test, the turbo checks out fine.
When I start a new game, the turbo will lock and hold a ball, but it is usually the 2nd time a ball gets locked that the game will kick the ball out of the turbo.

I noticed in Switch Test that Trough Spot #1 isn't registering, the trough on my Indy is an Opto Trough.

I'm curious if anyone has had an issue with their Opto Trough on Indy which causes the Turbo to act up? I realize this page probably doesn't get a lot of activity so I may be better off using the more generic 'Opto Trough' search in the repair forum.
For reference, here is a link I found that shows the opto boards for I-500 - See 5.8.9 in this link
http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_WPC#Opto_Switches

When I figure out the fix, I will post here for reference. Thanks for any help someone may be able to provide in the meantime.

Update: The turbo opto had a broken wire, I had to remove the ramp to get to it, but it was an easy fix.

I finally installed a Color DMD LED, what a great upgrade! I have ColorDMDs on most of my machines, so far Indy500 ColorDMD is my favorite.

Are this repaire kit for sale? Hoy much they are?

Quoted from OlDirty:

I also wanna join the club of the borken targets. I got a nice Indy 500, but of course the targets were broken. I created an easy fix for every one with a 3D printer. It's a "slip on" solution and you don't have to take off the target which is a pain in the ***.
you can dowload the *.stl file for the 3D printer here: http://uploaded.net/file/l63qtaki
Just cut down the rest of the broken target.
[quoted image]
so it looks like this
[quoted image]
put a bit of glue on the marked positions
[quoted image]
the printed part looks like this:

[quoted image]
you can use it with the old PCBs but also with the ones from here: http://www.greatlakesmodular.com/index.html?http://www.greatlakesmodular.com/products/pinball/i500itb.html
So at the end it looks like this:
old print

new print

Hey guys, my I500 went down before Expo. Not booting, no lights, no nothing. I took the mpu board to Expo and of course, that board is good. I don't do board work, but I'd like to be able to pinpoint where the failure is. I'm *guessing* it's gotta be the main power driver board. Anybody have time to tell me where to start? I have the manual, a multimeter, and pretty much no clue.
This is the first "major" issue in 6 years of owning, so I'm REALLY new to this. And extremely grateful this sumbitch has been such a damn tank.
I was looking up the power driver board for sale, seems pretty unobtanium. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

#977 8 days ago

I do have a FT, so I guess I could swap boards to narrow down, but FT just got board work done and I'm not too keen on swapping stuff in and out.
Seems like when I start doing shit like that, something else breaks. Am I just being dumb? Should I swap them and see? I REALLY am nervous about that....

Our big Indianapolis Fountain Square Classic tourney is this Sat, so if nothing else, I can take my board up to be repaired.
Just hoping it might be a power supply or something relatively simple on board that I can replace in a few days.

That's a bummer. What board has no lights? MPU or Driver board? Best to test all voltages before pulling out a board when a game is not booting, especially when the MPU has none of the red LEDs lit in the top left corner.
