i bet the cliffy is causing the jump. My cliffy on my RFM, will catch the edge as it's going through the lock path, and won't register fast shots because the ball is in the air, and causing the proxy sensor not to see the ball.

I think it def is. Just put more games on it and I'm having better luck with the bounce shot off of middle right post! Ball is moving too fast from turbo combo and left ramp drop. Too hard to finesse it in there, especially on the combo shot.
I'll report back.
Can anybody tell me where I can find the hex spacer that holds up the ramp? Its part # 02-4250-36. Its a 6-32-2 1/4 hex spacer. I have searched it and can't find it. Something similar that would work would be helpful as well.

Almost everyone sells these. You will not find it by part number but since you know the length, you can just order one 2 1/4" long. http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=358

take it out .. there is a procedure to make a bend adjustment when a cliffy is installed as well as a couple of different versions of the playfield to contend with. I went back and forth with Cliffy himself trying to work it out. Took out the Cliffy and was much happier. Did not try the recommended altering of the turbo scoop elements because i do not like to tinker with things.
Took the Cliffy out, MUCH better.
Game still kicks my ass. But a ton of fun.
It's really hard to get your timing down on shots on the fly. In lane drop speed is so inconsistent.
And multi balls are brutal if you don't get control of balls.
Indy 500, Sun May 29th, 2016
Hung out w/ Gryszzz at the race this year, mostly in the infield, turns 3 & 4.
Oh, those Canadians!

Question: how do the "add a balls" work in terms of the leader board? Right now, I have one added 4th ball option - and I've exceeded some scores on the board but am not getting to enter initials... This is my second Indy - I had the same added extra ball on my previous one and it seemed to not be an issue with the leader board. I know STTNG " (which I used to own) allows one extra ball for the regular leader board... Anyone?
I replaced the right flipper coil and plunger on my indy because the old flipper was weak and the old coil sleeve was stuck in the old coil so I just put in a new one. I played about 10 games on it and all of a sudden the flipper will not work. Good solder connections. Is it possible the new coil went bad?
Quoted from Don44:Is it possible the new coil went bad?
Anything is possible! With the machine off, measure the resistance of of the coil. Should be right around 4 ohms
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:The game I picked up is missing the bracket on the bottom of the left ramp. Looks very unique to I500. Anyone know if replacement can be sourced?
Thanks for sending the link. The "INDY 500" on that site always throws me off. I put in "INDIANAPOLIS 500" and doesn't come up. much appreciated!
Just joined the club on the 4th of July.Great condition game with faded reds, other than that it is fast and sweet.2nd Indy ive ever seen. Will rate it down the road, but so far its a blast
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:Just gave mine a clean. Opened out lanes. No extra balls or buy in. Set up for our NZ Pinball Champs. Top 32 players.
This is one mean playing pinball now...
Oh... and I just got my best ever Pit Stop ..
You may already know, but you have the rare sample PF (with different color scheme/the blue around the trophy)...
Quoted from Sticky:I just bought the table on pinball arcade and am really enjoying it. Not sure how this game flew under the radar for me but it's awesome.
I didn't think anything would come close to HS2 and although I prefer it I hope to add an I500 to the collection as it's challenging, fast, and fun.
The reason it's flown under the radar, I assume, is because there were only 2,249 units - plus those who own them tend to keep them... the rule set is so deep and frankly it's an awesome game that never gets old.
I think now that Pinball Arcade has finally replicated the game for their app, many more people will be pleasantly surprised at what a great game it is.
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:Thanks to Pinball Arcade, the price just went up on I500
I know.. I sold too early!!
The game isn't super popular just because it's more a B/C title in a crowded field of WPC games. Other games have themes people like more, or more character. I500 at least has decent humor and satisfying goals.. but ultimately a game like Whitewater overshadows it.

Whitewater does the theme spectacularly well - the PF is like a little white water rafting world. The sound is fun on WH20, too, although a little tinny and thin due to the early DMD technology. But, having owned both games (WH20 and I500) twice each, I have to say WH20 gets a bit redundant and boring... Indy 500, on the other hand, is much faster. far more challenging and satisfying.

Well at least WH20 has the vacation jackpot and all the play that must go into that and strategy to get it right. Unfortunately I500 is unfinished in that regard and there really is no big payoff for the race/placement/etc. I500 is kinda shallow in that there really is no inter-dependencies on what you do in the game except for the lucrative playfield multiplier stack. Get that turbo combo up... play MB for the super JB.. play the point worthy modes and try to stack the multiplier mode with MB. WH20 is similar except it adds the raft scoring strategies and the vacation jackpot. For pure 'satisfaction when you do it', in this tier of games.. I prefer BSD's MB strategies.
I owned I500 for many years.. mainly out of nostalgia for playing it on location back in the 90s.. but sold it recently to fund newer game buys. It was a fun game to bring to tournaments mainly because most people don't have a lot of time on it.

I think this is very well said. Playing a bunch of White Water and I500 somehow White Water feels more satisfying. I500 is really fast and challenging though but there just isn't that sort of satisfying payoff.
It's cheaper than White Water so there is that. Ideally, I'd own both.

My issue with WH20 is it gets like "chopping wood" to some extent, getting to the Vacation Jackpot. Repeated and redundant shots that are moderately challenging and time-consuming. The payoff is fantastic and as I said, the theme/music might be executed as well as any I've ever seen... But I500 = better than WH20 IMHO.
I can't play White Water on pinball arcade that's for sure. For me it's nothing like the real thing.
I just joined the club. None of my LED targets are working, so I guess I have some work to correct that.. Is there anywhere that these can be sourced, or is it pretty much necessary to rebuild them at this point?
Wh20 is probably my favorite game.. I like that it has attainable challenges, the theme is fantastic, and the music and sounds are also great. I grew up in the 16 bit era, so I find the sounds (tinny and all) pretty nostalgic.

There is a tab at the bottom that typically breaks off. I taped a piece of black gorilla tape at the bottom of mine and that now passes through the opto. Works perfect. They are also available at many of the parts websites. Hopefully that is your problem.

Just make sure you don't lose that little hinge spring while you have the target apart. It would be extremely difficult to source.
Quoted from codered9394:What are these machine going for these days?
one that has been sitting in the market for 3250 for a bit.
3500 is only for VERY VERY nice.
I have been looking for a bit (casually) and 2700-3200 is the norm.
Looks like I need to start looking for one actually. Those prices don't seem to bad.
I played one for the first time in Tennessee on vacation and really liked it.
Gotta keep my eye's open

The game in the market on Pinside looks more like players quality. Needs all new cabinet art etc to be nice. I think its a decent game for the price.

It isn't sold so obviously not a very good price. Pretty sure thei same one has been relisted a time or two.
I would pass on it at that condition and price. 2700 and i am interested based on condition.

It would sell faster up here in the Seattle market. Alabama and no shipping, local pick up only might be the reason. Says you have to go get it at his partners beach house. I tried to get one up here for $3500 and missed it. Ended up having mine shipped. Either way I think its a great game.

+1 Not sure how long this game will last in this price range, but I don't see it dropping any time soon. To me, it's just a matter of time for people to play this game and learn the rule set. The fastest B/W pin of the 90's?
HELP: The Indy car mech that holds the ball during "pit stop" has too much play. When the coil is activated, the ball slips past the diverter every time, even though the plunger pulled in. It appears that either the spring that attaches the link to the plunger needs to be shortened, the plunger shaft needs to be shortened?, or something else. Either way, I believe there needs to be a stronger "hold" pull when the coil is activated.
Any ideas/fixes?

Mine started to do this before I shopped my machine. In the shopping process, that whole mechanism needs to be removed so I cleaned it up, replaced the coil sleeve, lubed the pivot points and re-assembled. I have not had that problem since.
