Recently acquired a Williams IJ -- the game I had been after for some time. Been getting to know and play it for the last couple weeks. Its a bit battered around the edges but I don't regret bringing it home one bit. Have a few bugs to work out with the optos on the under playfield ball path (one of the receivers had electrical tape keeping the wires in place ) -- 90% of the time the game works as it should but every now and again the idol gets confused as to how many balls it should release. That is not the main reason for this post though.
I am to the point that I want to do some disassembly and general cleanup. I ordered a playfield protector to install; my playfield is not a perfect specimen but I think the protector might enhance it some and possibly save it from further damage. I have looked at many pictures of Indy playfields online and mine seems to have some subtle differences with the mode lights/images. Online images appear more "solid" or filled in with color -- the images on my field seem to have less area filled in with a starburst pattern -- tried to attach a couple pictures to better explain. I notice it most on "Survive the Rope Bridge," "Tank Chase," "Escape in the Mine Cart," and "Monkey Brains." I know insert decals were/are offered, perhaps those are what I am seeing in the online pictures?
Not a big deal either way. . . more of a point of curiosity for me. My game has an 08/93 production date if that makes any difference.
