This is the mode start hole on IJ. I would like to put a protector on it but it looks like it's too late.
I need to fix the hole first.
Any suggestions what to do?

Ouch. That, my friend, looks like it's going to require a complete teardown to do properly. You'll need that wood weld stuff, plus sanding, painting, and clearcoating. Check out Vid's awesome thread for ideas...but Vid1900 is the guy to contact about the best ways to repair this.

It's funny because this is one and only wear on the playfield, and it's big.
The playfield decals are all perfect and the machine was unplayed for 10 years.

My advice would be if it doesn;t give to many rejects of the shot then don't touch it!

Sand area, then use naptha and a tack rag to remove dust and grime. Wood putty to fill in, shape and sand to proper shape. At this point you can paint/restore, or cover with protector and call it a day. It is not that bad, really.

I hate that shot on the game. I wish it were designed to actually catch the ball.

The game is hard just because of this shot

That 'wear' looks like it was done on purpose to 'fix' the bounce back from that shot and make the hole bigger.

Good call. I bet you're right.

Yeah it does, great observation. Bummer though if that is what it is.

If that's true, then that's the very definition of a f***tard.

I agree. You can see the grooves of a wood file.

OMG, no sh!t This blows my mind

Yeah... I agree. It looks like someone filed the hole to make shot easier.

I would rebuild the hole, repaint the yellow and black lines, then spot clear.

+1 to this, and it really isn't that hard to do.

Also add washers between the plastic and the bottom of the PF to drop the cup just enough to make it easier for the ball to drop in and stay.

...but does it still bounce out? hehe
that's horrible. too bad someone butchered it.

I believe that if you know how to start. I might do it the near future. Any direct link to instructions or video how to do it?
