I have no idea... I know that I put most of my quarters into Pac-man, Mario Bros., Gorgar and Space Invaders (pin)

Those games did rake in some money but none are the record holders

For me, I always remember the most quarters being lined up on Street Fighter. Sometimes, there were 6 or 7 quarters waiting to be my next victim

    DEFENDER Holds the Arcade record

It's for sure Defender then if it was made by Williams.

Its a great game and its the hardest arcade game in my opinion and Stargate also

    robotron 2084

    #26 12 years ago

I didn't play all that much in the 80s, but I've put way more into Pac-man then Defender. Not from the 80s but overall I've probably put the most into X-Men, Simpsons or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For pinball, it's easily Medieval Madness.

I dumped a boat load of coins in MM back in 1999 i just
    could'nt stay away from it.

I didn't have much of a choice, it was the only pin in my town. Unlucky to live in a town with only one pinball machine, but lucky that one game was a NEW -at that time- Medieval Madness.

I would love to find one on route again and dump another boat load of
    coins in it.LOL!

GREAT STUFF! I was going to say Ms. Pac-Man, I couldn't walk by one without dropping a quarter. Asteroids was easily my favorite.

Feels like 100 years ago but way in the back of the Rt 1 flea market in New Brunswick
was a small arcade and there it sat -Battle Zone

I loved all those early vector based games such as Rip-Off, Space Wars, Armor Attack, Star Castle, etc ...

Right there with you gweempose. My Battlezone died and sits idly in the corner...waiting to be resurrected. Love to have an Armor attack and Star Castle. And of course Tempest.
I think Pacman had to of made the most money in my part of the country. You couldnt go into a store in the 80's and not pass by one.

I agree with all that's been said about quarter gobbling machines but did noone mention the Dragon Slayer game? The one with the video? When that came out, everything was suddenly OLD. ANd not just glitzy old, but like stupid old. Because of the progress option, it got more quarters out of us than anything. It's as if we thought we could really swing a sword like that after playing the game...
