I understand what IBTL means but why do people post it?
Is it so they can have posted something irrelevant (IBTL) to a thread that is seemingly on its way to being locked?
Why can't locked threads just be moved to the "basement?"

Maybe there is an achievement award for a locked thread?

    IBTL is a pinside achievement

It's not just a Pinside thing. It happens all over the internet when people recognize that a discussion is going off the rails.

And yes, there is a Pinside achievement awared to the last person to post something right before a thread is locked.

    More IBTL fun here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ibtl-ii-mods-please-lock-this-up-/

    Quoted from gjm:

Why can't locked threads just be moved to the "basement?"

Under certain circumstances, a thread is occasionally moved to the basement in lieu of locking it. But most of the time, it's just locked where it is since it's hard to recover a thread once it goes off a cliff.

Same thing as measuring in units of Bananas.

It's speculation that a topic is headed for a lock.

So should we post stuff that we know Pinside won't like just to get the reward?

That question alone will probably be enough to lock this post.

I would not advise it. Poking the bear is never good. And you have to be the last person to post in a locked thread.

The internet is a dumb place but complaining about the internet is dumber.

IBTL is a safe bet with any thread that has to do with GWJ.

    #16 1 year ago

After the lock has happened, it should be referenced as, The GWJ Graveyard

Still have no idea of what happened. Went from Alcoholic to needing Mental Health. Go figure that one out since the project build of mine is moving ahead. But some guys like to have stuff locked. Trailer Trash Pinball is still on the tracks. I will not be posting a new thread in the future.
