I'm a huge fan of medieval madness. With all the hard parts being remade and lots of used parts available, would it be cost effective to build one more or less from scratch? Starting with a cheaper w/b game for boards and cabinet. I found a used playfield that doesn't look too bad for around 300 bucks. Do you think it would end up costing more then buying one? I've seen used ramps etc for sale. Is there anything that wouldn't be available? I don't care about perfect, just thinking about trying to build a players quality machine.

If you built one from the ground up for less than double the price of a remake, I’d be stunned.

Someone already did this. If you search you can probably find the thread.

With the time and materials you would need, I think it would be cheaper to buy a complete machine. You could possibly find one in horrible shape and restore it.

It would cost around $10k-$12k. Plus a lot of parts hunting, creating parts from scratch, and all the time building it. It isn't a cost-effective project, unfortunately.

If you need an original cabinet, translite, etc....I have it. Not willing to ship though.

I saw that on Craigslist, what happened to the rest of the game.

good luck getting them to sell you all these parts.

That was supposed to be one of the benefits of the remakes, but most of those parts never made it online.

Yep, the parts catalog looks almost as bare bones as it did before. I'm sure what stuff does show up for sale, it will be priced accordingly.

So it is doable, but probably not cost effective, if I could find a roached one that was priced accordingly I would buy it. I'm just impatient. I'll buy a MMR by the middle of summer, just need some bills to pay off first.

Good for you. Enjoy it.

Some games never show up roached and for sale. This is one of them.

I think it would cost more to build it from scratch. I would just buy one.
