I got in on it b/c it's my favorite game. It was the first game I played in a tournament (tilted on ball one in seconds) and played horribly. Hated it and stayed away from it until I was in Vegas and Sal from the Hall of Fame asked me if i wanted to learn how to get to Jericho or Do or Die (didn't know what he was talking about then) and after that I learned the game and loved how simple and brutal it was.

Looked for them but the price was too high so I just figured I'd never get one or get one if/when I was rich. Then VE came out and I was in right away. Can't wait to get it at home - just played a nicely modded one this past weekend that had these cool LED lights on the apron that was really cool - hadn't seen that before.

Quoted from ZenTron:

My dad paid about $2500 each for BK2000 and Police Force NIB about 25 years ago. Id say $4800 isn't bad because I told him I bought IM VE and he guessed it cost be $7000.

Damn dude that's some serious recordkeeping!

Someone got pix of an IM with blades? I have a shaker but no sub or blades - was never a mod guy but IM seems ripe for it.

Anyone know if you can do/it has Tournament Mode on IM VE?

Was gonna open it up and do one before anyone has a chance to practice on it but it doesn't look like it comes w/the button?

#623 9 years ago

Mine shipped yesterday as well - via Roadrunner - not sure when it's arriving but maybe Wednesday too I guess?

I think it would look good between XMEN and SM

I agree!

What's peoples opinions on subs in the cab vs on the floor? Personally i'd rather have it in the cabinet to make it more integrated but what's the pros/cons?

#919 9 years ago

Man so I am in Vegas for photoshoots and my IM VE arrived at my studio while I was already out here so I decided to play the IM at PHOF. Got my initials up but the right flipper got stuck - was mostly playing to compare it against the VE when I get home (you can see the score and my initials and the stuck flipper which caused me to lose my stacked War Machine + Whiplash - doh! 2014-07-25-20.48.45.jpg2014-07-25-20.48.45.jpg

Quoted from jdoz2:

FINALLY got my IMVE yesterday! This is my first NIB and I honestly cant believe I was able to get a new game. Very happy with Iron Man so far. Cabinet is incredible and the leds look great. I ordered a new war machine figure and Im thinking about doing the EL wire whips for whiplash. It played great out of the box other than the ironmonger top needs adjusted so the ball travels smoother over it. Is that a simple adjustment?
This Iron Man is on location at Meta-Games Unlimited in Springfield, MO so if you're ever in the area stop by!

Let us know how it earns - hope it does well! I play the broken one near my house at least once a visit even though it's totally lame and you can't hit the ramps

Finally got mine set up today - realized I never had opened a NIB and my friend opened the coin door and was like "smell this" - it was the New Pinball Smell which smells a lot like Home Depot I thought

Here's a few pix:

Oh yeah to move the right post do you have to remove the ramp?

Quoted from cwell:

pretty sure factory is 3 holes down. I'm thinking about moving my left down one and keeping my right at factory. that left side is a bitch and nudging doesn't seem to help.

opening mine all the way!

Anyone know what the Directors Cut does?

#1129 9 years ago

Finally opened up the right inlane and set it to Medium since my employees were getting frustrated with how hard it was to get Monger up Will see who has initials up after we get back to the studio from our shoot out of town the next six days.

Quoted from zucot:

Just got an Iron Man ve at mummites yesterday and had two issues.
1. We used to have an old non ve IM and the whiplash magnet threw the ball around a LOT more. On this one it catches the ball just fine but after a hold it just lets the ball dribble away. Was this a code change? Anything else it could be? Is it happening for anyone else?

I was thinking the same - think the first hit it just kind drops it but other hits will wing it like crazy - had two SDTO (straight down the outlane?) that killed a great game

#1334 9 years ago

I've played a lot more on old school IM than my VE but most of them seemed to require a bit of a slap to the right side to keep it from hitting the right sling. If you watch PAPA videos a lot of guys will slap the side and live catch it on the right flipper so i think that's normal.

#1425 9 years ago

Got the shaker, sub and cup holder installed and played with a bunch of friends yesterday and cranked it up - so much fun! Also added the Tournament button so my employees can have a work tournament on it and hopefully I can create some new players. Have it set up pretty hard though so they do complain a bit but hey it'll make them play better

Awesome this is great to hear. I've put mine at my photography studio and the employees here love it. I have also been asked to do a trial test run of putting it at a new children's hospital opening up in our neighborhood and have agreed to do so - that's why it's good to hear that kids and others like it. Mine is set up as hard as possible but I will have to soften it up for the kids when we put it in the hospital

Quoted from pinnyheadhead:

IM can be played by anyone at any level. My 8 year old son, wife and newbie friends all walked up to IM and I was surprised they made enough shots to fire up multi balls and raise the Iron Monger. They dug the call outs, flashing lights and how the balls get whipped around by the magnets. My favorite shot for new players is when they hit War Machine. The kick back really surprises them! Did they get huge scores, not really, but they were able to hang and all had more fun than playing my other games. (Not to start a BW - Stern fight here, just saying). I thought IM was a "good players only type of pin", or you will not like. I was wrong. I also had experienced players come over and they enjoyed making it to Jericho and Do or Die. I learned IM is a good 2 player game between novice and good players because of the short ball times. My wife can go make a sandwich sometimes during my turn while we play HS2 together, not on IM. Everyone has fun, seems to like IM and it is a very approachable game.

Quick question, I wanna move my outlane posts, but not sure the nut drive size that's required? I need to buy the right one. Does anyone know what the nut for the outlane posts is size wise for a nut driver? Thanks!

#1909 9 years ago

Solved it - the nuts on the bottom of the outlane posts are 5/16" for future reference. Having them wide open was just too brutal. After competing on it at the PAPA circuit event at Expo they only had the posts on the next to furthest open so that's how I have mine set now.

Quoted from Rarehero:

However - if you have 2x going when DOD starts - you can get up to 70 million! So - maybe that's what happened.

That's what I was thinking since I have no idea the value of completing Jericho (since I never can do that! - but since it's a countdown it's rare that he would've hit it exactly as it was 25,000,000 at 2x?

I can't wait to get back to the studio to play it - this trip has kept me away from pinball for over 6 days ah!
