Generally not into drama/suspense/action series
except maybe DeadWood.
More into Comedy and off-kilter programs
like a lot of IFC series, Portlandia , Moran and Documentry Now etc
30 minute attention span is about all my brain can handle
and where you do not have to remember plot twists
from what happened 3 episodes ago.

Looking for a show (series) you can watch with your kids,
Try the BBC's Horrible Histories (streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime)
In the vein of Monty Python's Holy Grail & Life of Brian and Black Adder series and certain SNL sketches.

It is a Childrens' BBC comedy series based on the best-selling books written by Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown.
Starting out in the Savage Stone Age, Horrible Histories progresses through the Awful Egyptians, Rotten Romans, Vicious Vikings, Measly Middle Ages, Terrible Tudors, Gorgeous Georgians and Vile Victorians, right up to the Woeful Second World War.
Covers mostly UK history, but also has sketches of USA pioneers.

Liberally splattered with guts, blood, farts, poo & pee, Horrible Histories romps through the ages in a collection of sketches, cartoons and quizzes.
Each episode features a mixture of sketches from different ages, played by the ensemble cast,
and commentary from the show's host Rattus Rattus - the talking rat.
The show also includes pastiches of some familiar TV formats such as
Historical Wife Swap, Historical Hospital, Historical Celebrity chef, and Ready Steady Feast;
and various spoof songs, for example a musical journey through 18th Century British history in the style of a Westlife ballad, sung by four King Georges.

All in an attempt to be humorous and educational.
I found it to be very fun and informative.
Discovered it initially when I was living in the UK about 9 yrs ago.

Quoted from xsvtoys:

S1 of The Righteous Gemstones on HBOMax. Sick, twisted, degenerate comedy

One of my wife's favorite shows, mainly cause they are not afraid to show full frontal male nudity,
she says its about time that women get their fair share of balls and dongs,
when there are tits and ass of women every where else.

We are also enjoying the Gilded Age on HBOMax, the US version of Downton Abbey.

Quoted from fosaisu:

nothing sexy about any

Well they do have the "god squad" all beefy and buff,
which the wife is not complaining about, (admittedly no B&D there)
as opposed to bunches of T&A (ala most all other shows).
She would be fine with nudity on TV and Movies
but its got to be 50/50, when in reality its about 95/5 at best.
And then it may only be a butt check thru a steamy shower scene
or only a second and a half of a rear shot walking away from a bed
on the male actors.

nothing sexy about any of the "balls and dongs"

Is there ever anything sexy about balls and dongs??

My wife and I just discovered the BBC program on HBOMax called Ghosts,
it is the original to the CBS version now airing on network TV.
The cast on the BBC series is great,
as most of them are from the previous BBC series Horrible Histories.
Premise is a young married couple inherit a huge (Haunted) mansion in the UK.
only the wife can see/hear the ghosts ( as she had a near death experience.)
All the ghosts have died on the property over the years, going back to Pre-Historic times.
The couple want to turn mansion into a Bed&Breakfast, the ghosts prefer not and want to be left alone,
so the madness and fun and comedy then ensues.

Not actually a series, but a 2 part documentary on HBOMax
about the life of George Carlin.
Very Good. Details how his career changed over the span of 50 yrs
He definitely spoke his mind
Can't believe he died over 14 yrs ago.
So much of what he tells the audience and warns us about, are now clearer than ever.

Quoted from vicjw66:

I can only imagine what Carlin would have to say about todays politicians.

Maybe
"I told you so"

Back in about 1969 (+/- a yr), one summer weekend,
my dad took me with him on a trip to S. Lake Tahoe.
He gambled (played cards Poker, BlackJack etc)
He let me loose in the casino's arcades with pinball and pitch & bats and gun games and teen clubs, disco.
I was probably in 8th or 9th grade.
One night we both went to a show,
which featured George Carlin, as an opening act,
when he was still straight laced (at least in outward appearance)
short hair business suit and tie .
His act was just starting to get subversive.
We both loved it, a great bonding moment.
The headline act that night was believe it or not
Tiny Tim.

George Carlin is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of comedians and philosophers of our time.

Just finished watching (binged)
The Old Man
with Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow
on FX/Hulu.
Only 7 episodes in Season 1
and left with a huge unresolved cliffhanger
in the season finale.
Jeff plays a still badass ex-CIA agent (though definitely old and aching)
with something from the past (think 1980s Russian Afghan war)
coming back to haunt him.
Closest comparison might be Showtime's Homeland

Quik review of
Netflix's The Munsters by Rob Zombie
Visuals are great
very campy
not very funny.

Hocus Pocus 2 on Disney+
My wife who is a great fan of the 1st movie, thought
this sequel was very well done and
very much in spirit of the first.

Moments away from watching A Christmas Story Christmas,
Will let you know my take on if it can ever live up to the original.

Also watched yesterday on Roku channel
Weird, The Al Yankovic Story
It was great but sort of ran out of steam at the end.

Quoted from pinwiztom:

A Christmas Story Christmas,

I was pleasantly surprized
It had a lot of the same spirit
my wife's only disappointment was that they did not utilize the original mom of Ralphie
to play the same role again.

Just now catching Tim Burton's new Netflix series "Wednesday"
Looks good so far
kinda a cross between
Hogwart's and XMen's academy plus Twilight and standard Addam's Family lore.

Best part is when Thing flips off a normal human who call's him Wednesday's pet.

Finished the Netflix series Wednesday
and was good to see the (new) uncle Fester
also the series somehow reminded me of
the old Scooby Doo Mysteries Inc. show.
The finale had about 3 false reveals and twists of the true villain behind the crimes.

Just watched the horror/comedy thriller
The Menu on HBOMax
With Ralph Fiennes and Ana Taylor Joy and Judith Light and John Leguizamo

A bit weird and over the top
but fairly easy to watch

I give it 3.5 stars out of 5

Andy Mackay and Will Ferrell are some of the producers in the credits.
