Plenty of good suggestions here!

Let me add True Detectives (season 1 - you can forget about season 2 which is an independent story anyway)

Quoted from Azmodeus:

I would also suggest fringe to the sci fi lover.

Given my avatar, you can guess I will not argue with you...

Anyone tried The Terror?
I have only watched the first episode, but I really enjoyed the book.
Looks good.

If you are looking for something different, may I suggest the German TV series Babylon Berlin?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_Berlin

A drama / crime series held in Berlin in 1929 during the Weimar republic.

Really good (Best seen in German, of course)... but not family friendly (sex, violence...)

Another vote for Deadwood - Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) and... Mr Wu were my favorite characters. But I have yet to watch Deadwood: the movie.

Just started to watch Cardinal, a Canadian crime drama television series. Season 1 is held in Algonquin Bay. I am completely hooked after only two episodes.

Some "exotic" European series I recommend:

- Hidden (UK): crime series in Wales. One occasion to hear Welsh (is it Gaelic?). Good ambiance, excellent play.
- Antidisturbios (Spain): life of a anti-riot unit in Madrid. With a nice, dark plot slowly unveiled.
- (already mentioned it): Babylon Berlin (Germany): Crime and politics in Germany in the 1920's. 3 seasons, all excellent.
- Missing (Sweden): mini series (4 episodes): crime in the "Bible Belt" of Sweden.

The last miniseries I watched on Netflix: The Serpent. It tells the story of a serial killer, Charles Sobhraj, who robbed and murdered tourists in Asia (mostly Thailand, but not only) starting in the 70's.
Tahar Rahim plays the role of the serial killer, and this actor is damn good.
Not too bloody / gore, but scary.

Just finished Season 6 of Fear The Walking Dead. It's not great but watchable. Decent enough for TWD addicts like me.

Warning - cryptic spoiler:

I loved the solution found by the lady with the baby and the dog - that was creative thinking in desperate times!

I recommend Smother, Irish/UK TV series in 6 episodes.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11719808/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smother_(TV_series)

When a man is found dead at the foot of a cliff near their home the morning after a family party, his wife attempts to investigate the events that unfolded the night before.

Strongly recommending Babylon Berlin, a German "Neo-noir" TV series, set in Berlin between 1929 and 1931. You can watch it on Netflix.

To give you a flavor, here is a song we could hear during Season 4 (but this is not a Musical)

More about it
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_Berlin

"At the time people did not realize how absolutely unstable this new construction of society which the Weimar Republic represented was. It interested us because the fragility of democracy has been put to the test quite profoundly in recent years... By 1929, new opportunities were arising. Women had more possibilities to take part in society, especially in the labour market as Berlin became crowded with new thinking, new art, theatre, music and journalistic writing."

On Rotten Tomatoes the first season holds approval rating of 100% based on 30 reviews, with the critics consensus reading: "Babylon Berlin's humor and humanity pair nicely with its hypnotic visuals, resulting in a show that dazzles within its oversaturated genre."As of April 2019, Babylon Berlin was the highest rated non-English language show on Sky TV.
