Don't you hate it when you order a game specific Rubber Ring Kit and it's got the some of the wrong size rings!
From here on out, I'm going ala kart...or all a kart....maybe it's aly cart

It's missing parts that annoy me specifically post sleeves or other random pieces that I don't have extras of to cover...

I just buy the 65 piece sets from Pinball Life. There the same price as most game specific sets, and you'll have leftovers for other games or spares.

I hear yeah. Same with buying LED kits. Seems that their is always something missing or wrong.

    à la carte

If you go to any shows, you can buy a ship load of rubber in a big bag for $20.

You need a bunch of extras anyway, as sometimes the edge of a ring starts to flake and it won't be long until it fails; long before any of the other rings are due.

Most pinball-related kits are as effective as single ply toilet paper.

Seems like the kits are wrong because the manuals list the wrong sizes, or don't list all the pieces, and the kits are built off of them.

You'd think by now the kit could be correct though. I bought a kit for a Hulk, let's see 1979, that 34 years to figure out the right rings. All there...nah. Did I have spares? Thankfully. Oh well. I hear HeathKIT is coming back though.

I noticed on IPDB there are links on most modern machines to .txt "parts lists". I wonder if these are more accurate (checked against an actual machine) than the manuals?

Seriously though, it is probably not worth the trouble, just buy a big bag o' rings like this:

I would imagine most people get their first machine, buy a kit, realize the kit is wrong/missing pieces, buy assorted rubber and never bother with kits again.

I just ordered 'A La Carte (thanks for the spelling Vid) from Pinballlife for the Spy Hunter I'm working on. I'll order that bag o' rings next time. Good stuff.

    Quoted from 85vett:

My one note on that is that -- at least for me -- I tend to replace the slings and tiny post rubbers more often than those assortments tend to suggest (i.e., only two of the 3" rings). So, while I like those kits for general availability of parts, I still have to order some things separately in higher quantities.
