I've had a couple of my old playfields hanging on the wall for a while now. While I was freshening up the room, I pulled them down and illuminated them.
I got a couple sheets of plastic, traced out the insert locations and then applied strip LEDs to those locations. For reliability I soldered all the strips together rather than using the connectors they sell. I used one LED controller with two outputs, so if I put it in color fade mode both playfields are in sync with each other. Routed the wiring down the inside of the wall to keep a clean look
Nice cheap project... with a ton of soldering. Really happy with the results. (Though I wish I hadn't missed the shoot again inserts on both playfields! Doh!)
