Hi guys. Happy to be part of the club since two months now.
For now I spent more time fixing issues on the pinball than actually playing.
But I like it too.
Yesterday I had a nice game, my best score so far

Hi guys. I’ve got a question. My hand of fate systematically gives me 10 millions. Never anything else. Do you know why ? Is there a setting I ignore ?

Hi guys.
Watching ricochet’s photo, I was wondering if you all have this ball guide on your IJ ?
I don’t have it and a friend of mine doesn’t have it either.
Is it useful ? Where can I buy one ?

Quoted from OTRChief:

I've had a lot of problems getting my POA working correctly. I would adjust it and it would sorta work for a little while and then after a day or two it no longer would send the ball straight down the left or right side. I purchased and installed a new motor and a new opto board. It worked better but it still seemed to go out of adjustment and not tilt in either direction as far as I thought it should. In watching in test mode the POA seemed to slip some on the shaft even though the screw was tight. I added some white lithium grease to the shaft at the other end where it goes into the front mount and now it works perfectly.

I’m very interested in your settings as I still have problems with my POA. Whichever way I try to set it, it’s either the ball goes straight down on the right side, or the left, or sometimes none of them. But never both. Some of you guys say you changed the motor and the opto card. What would that exactly change ? It seems my POA doesn’t tilt enough right or left for the ball not to fall in the pit. But with the opto switch, it has not chance to go further, right ?

Would be amazing if some of you could post some little videos of your POA working.

Any ideas are welcome
Kind regards

Thank you OTRChief, KornFreak28, and Orlandu81 for your answers. I’ll investigate further with your tips.
Still, it seems to me my POA is going as far as it can until the opto switch detects the interrupter/bushing. So it’s not yet entirely clear to me if it can really tilt more. I’ll let you know !

Quoted from pinballinreno:

I have done all the fixes for this.
Some work, orhers dont.
There is no fix for slop in a 30 year old gearbox.
This as a $10,000 game, buy it new parts.
Replace the motor, gearbox, poa opto board (non-homepin one),
motor driver board and the metal opto interrupter.
Get a new set-screw for the motor shaft.
Not surprisingly, it will work perfectly and like new.
If you want snappy, brand new performance, rebuild it with new parts.
Its a joy to use when its rebuilt.

Thank you all for the tips.
I already bought some new parts, not installed yet.
What are the gearbox and motor driver board ? I don’t see what these are.

#8424 2 years ago

One more question guys: where can I find the opto metal interrupter ? It isn’t available in any of the websites I checked.
I’m going to change all that !!

Hi guys. After mentioning some time ago my POA setting problems, I wanted to give a little feedback.
I changed on your advice all the parts relating to the POA (motor, opto board, motor driver board) . I also checked all the wiring below, put in order so that nothing comes to interfere with the inclination of the POA. I raised the front support of the POA as mentioned by other members.
I immediately noticed that the new motor was more powerful than the old one, but that doesn't really change the maximum tilt of the POA, which is stopped by the optical detection. At this point, I had no noticeable improvement in game, always one side where the ball rolled without falling, the other side it fell into the pit. I was a little pissed off and finally found what is wrong with my IJ. The ball was still picking up too much speed at the start, and after the first curve fell into the pit. So I tightened the two metal parts of the bridge, so that the ball is much slower when it hits the POA. And eventually it can roll on both sides without falling!
The adjustment is minimal, but makes all the difference.
I stole a photo in the thread (sorry for that) just to show you which parts I’m talking about.

Thank you all for your help on this !

I agree with that. Right ramp is tough and makes the game challenging. Also makes many missions hard to complete.
However your left flipper seems slightly low in my opinion.

#9531 2 years ago

That’s an alternative indeed, but as far as I can judge on pictures, I find HeavyMetalPoet’s replica much more true to the original… Whether it is the color or the pattern of the grid.

I just worked on new decals for my IJ
I had bad surprises under the apparent decals that were on the pinball when I got it. The old and probably original one were still there. It took me a while to get them off. I tried to do a neat job.
I found some nice decals in France for a reasonable price. I chose the mat finish as I don’t remember original decals being shiny. They look good but a question comes to my mind. They don’t have a same texture as the originals. The rendering is very smooth and does not have the
same grain. Have you noticed this too? Do you know where to find decals that would be more similar to the Williams originals of the time?
Anyway, here are some pictures of the result. Quoted from pinballinreno:

PPS has 4 of the 5 pieces you will need, and they are screen printed.
I dont think any one is selling any of the screen printed ones right now, at least legally.
These guys might be good:
https://pinballdecalseu.com/shop/indiana-jones-the-pinball-adventure-pinball-cabinet-decals-set/
I would get a lot of reviews before committing to anything though.

Thank you for the tip. Has anyone tried some decals from this company? Not that I’ll do mine again soon but I’d like to do it for some other pinballs and that’d be frustrating to spend time doing it and regret some original decals even slightly damaged that were on the pinball before.
