Quoted from Wob76:Nice! You can stick it next to mine at the next pinfest
Was that yours?
It was the inspiration for me. Best in show i thought.
The other one i walked away wanting is Suprano's.
Thinking i'll take Sunset Riders next year and probably either Celts or Haggis Fathom Mermaid. We'll see when it gets closer what i'm most proud of.
Deadpool and gunners were a hit last year, so i'll take my best again.
Yeah, gunners is too complicated for my besotted little brain.
It's sitting waiting for Bill to pick it up, swapped it for a Medieval Madness LE.
Question that's probs been answered a million times, but can someone point me to post where it was explained the differences between pin2dmd and ColourDMD in this game please?
Game came with the pin2, but i have a spare colordmd here.
The vid on the colorddmd site looks very similar to the one that's in it, not like the smoothed TWD Cdmd next to it here.
Ahh, so it doesn't have to look like dots?
My walking dead is set to smooth and i really like it.
Guess it doesn't cost anything but some time to compare, but if you took a photo of the smoothed Indy, i'd like to see it?
Quoted from TimBoch:ColorDMD is a commercial company that sells the hardware and software using their LCD or LED screens.
I have their LCD screens providing many video graphics options besides just Dots on my IJ, STTNG and NGG. I like this option very much.
I have the LED screen in my TAF which is only dots and looks great as well and allowed me to keep my original THING light board.
PIN2DMD is more of an open source option to bring color screens to just about all platforms. There are a few people in the community who build the hardware or you can do it yourself. The colorizations are either done by you or by contacting someone who has made a colorization for the files. A good place to learn more is at VPUniverse. Since Gottliebs were not supported by ColorDMD I bought a PIN2DMD setup and made my own colorization for my Tee’d Off. It made it look great.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Thanks kindly for the explanation, but i have bought six colordmd's and have a few of the pin2dmds as well.
My concern was if the smoothing was similar to my colordmd in Twd. I went back through 15 pages in the image thread and found some images of the scores that make it look like maybe.
So my next step is to take the pin2dmd out and put one of my spare colordmd's in it to see the difference myself.'t understand the difference.
This would be better if the colordmd site had a vid of both the dots and the smoothed display so i wouldn't have to do this is all.
Sorry if i came off as if i didn't understand the difference, it was not my intention.
Is the guy really asking you to ship back after that pic?
Pinball businesses have gone mad.
There are decent people out there though and that keeps me hopeful, but that is pathetic. Like what's he going to do with the piece of $5 plastic? melt it and put it back in the next (hopefully correct one)?
Someone lives on their reputation for quality they die by it too.
Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:This is the nature of enthusiast forums. You tell me where this doesn't commonly happen, especially when the product is of this kind of value. I shared legit manufacturing defect with a product...I only shared that I was less than impressed with the manufacturers feedback after it occurred via PM. No drama needed, but it was drama I got in response.
The matter is now closed for better or for worse.
I understand at least mate. There's some retailers in here who have a loyal (read rabid) following, and preach the immaculate service that people like Dan form Pinwoofer actually provide.
Some of them are the worst people i've ever dealt with (never dealt with lior, so not aimed at him) but the consensus is always it's your fault here.
Mine is slow to come down sometimes, but comes. If it didn't i would get in there and stick a couple of bits of mylar there to give it some slope.
Quoted from Marathonman845:Simple idea. Thanks! At times i have to come close to a tilt to get it to move. Easy to try!
You are welcome. I would think a small round piece or two to raise it up and a larger piece to cover the step. That's what i did at the pops on GnR to stop the ball stick there.
Quoted from Ricochet:Tin (stainless steel) knocking some antidotes today! I have kept an updated list … lots of folks gave up on me (understandably so)… therefore the list is becoming smaller
[quoted image]
I missed if you were shipping internationally and the total cost mate if you could point me to the post?
My top playfield has stopped working. It wasn't going all the way to one side for a little while and now it doesn't move at all. Can anyone give some hints as to what to look at please?
I'll look at that if i can figure out where it all is, i'll google. Just thought it may be a common thing. I'm not very good with pinball maintenance.
No i haven't, as i said i thought it may be common issue. If there are many issues i'll just wait till my tech comes next. Sounds like it's above my skill level.
Quoted from Ricochet:I suck at pinball … I’ll never see this number on my machine. I think I lack patience
I was so proud of myself when i put a new GC score on my machine at 500m last week.
Like a kick to the balls that is.
My best games are almost always with a hangover. The day i beat the GC on IJ that came with the machine i had got up that morning and my mate that was staying challenged me to a game of Tron over coffee, i beat the GC score on it that it came with and i had been chasing for weeks (just under 100m), so to get two gc scores in a day was a first for me.
Substitute whiskey for brownies and i'll agree though.
Quoted from orlandu81:Fixed that for you so I can better relate.
careful, i got modded for altering quotes in a harmless way once.
Quoted from beltking:Need some help... finally got my Indy up and running but while its idol and not playing every 3-4 minutes or so it resets and goes into testing for a few seconds only. Not sure why. Any clue?
Check the 5v circuit?
Quoted from PinballGalore:Got a piece of wood made for my soon to be custom topper gonna paint it black, add some light and flashers and get these in a fixed and symmetrical position
[quoted image]
The piece of wood you 'had made' looks warped.
Tech just replaced something in mine on Grand Lizard. i think he said it was a line filter. He got it from the electronic shop, was a bit different looking, but served the same purpose.
Right ramp is easy as when it's not lit, right left combo's are easy. Stick a jackpot on it and it's the hardest shot in the game.
Mine has a dark army green with some iridescence that looks almost black from a distance and in photo's. It's a beautiful colour, but i have no idea what it's called.
I would never purposely buy a mirco product again after seeing what happened to my GnR playfield and seeing the response from JJP about it.
Quoted from SiN13:Got my mirrored backglass in today but I guess I need to order some different trim and lift channel for it as the stock ones are too tight. I know at one point people were using System 11 trim. Could someone point me to the recommended product listings on Pinball Life?
I unvisited the thread, but there is someone making new trim in the thread that's dedicated to the cpr backglass trim here. Try a search and read the last page.
Quoted from insight75:How do you like the mirrored backglass? (Tell me it sucks so I don't spend the money....)
I would 100% spend the money. It's a couple hundred bucks for a machine that is an all time keeper.
CPR says that the weather in Australia makes their backglasses peel in transit to us though.
Therefore they can't warrant their product, cause you know, weather.
They haven't explianed why they still peel in The United states of America though.
Quoted from Jarbyjibbo:This is one where online usually isn't the best solution. I'd go in and try your local ACE hardware or something similar. They have a nice supply of more rare things like this. Everyone usually has one in their neighborhood or close by so it's often a good first stop.
Maybe not everyone.....
NeverHeardOfItBeforePunkin
Quoted from SiN13:Another option is https://www.mcmaster.com/ but you’ll have to purchase them by the box and end up spending more and have lots of left overs. I’d use it as a last resort if there is a specific piece you can’t find at the local hardware store.
So you guys don't have stores like this?
Here they service agricultural industry's, tradies, fitters etc.
All fasteners you can think of, if they haven't got it, it will be here tomorrow. Bearings, pulleys, belts, tools, rope, chain, filters and lubricants etc.
I used to shop here all the time, my grandaughter called it the 'boys shop'.
Quoted from SiN13:So much of what is widespread here is geared towards homeowners and less industrial. I guess here something like this would be a mix Farm and Fleet, Rural King, and Harbor Freight. I'm sure there are even more specific stores like this for farmers and mechanics.
For nuts and bolts though I'd just go to my local mom and pop hardware store or Menards and go into the hardware section where there are drawers of full of just about everything. You can buy full boxes or they will sell them piecemeal. It's just a question of if you'll be able to find it or if they'll give you a puzzled look when you tell them what you are looking for. The more specific stuff or tiny sized items they tend to not stock since they are not an everyday item found in the home.
Thanks, we have a few little hardware stores here, and a stack of large chain ones nowadays, but there are always specific fastener stores here in the industrial areas of town where tradies and fitters go. The one i listed is in my old home town, which is an agricultural centre, but there's one down the road over here as well.
These are the stores we go to if we want something besides a metric or bsp thread or specific fasteners rather than generic sizes or finishes.
I enjoy learning how others do things, so apologies for the sidetrack.
What would you do if you were halfway through a job on a Saturday morning and wanted metric fasteners?
Quoted from insight75:I went to my local store tonight. They didn’t have them but will try checking others. Now I know what they are called so that’s helpful.
Google says there are at least three fastener specialist stores near you.
I bet if you go to one, tell them exactly what you want, they'll either have it in stock or will get it right in for you. Assuming they are the same as fastener stores here.
Quoted from Medisinyl:No set on hand I'm willing to sell, and as you may expect, there have been countless inquiries over the years.
And indeed, aware of the large interest. Nearly 600 others on lists for STh/Elvira mods to get to, and will want to move forward with something new when I can.
But I do think it's a shame I made so few, as creating these was a massive project, and I still like the result. More of something as an option to consider some here and there if there's ever more breathing room.
So farm it out. The molds are already there, get a contractor or friend/relative to make them for you.
That's how business works.
If people want them, they'll pay the costs plus profit.
You don't have to do everything yourself once you find a product that's in demand.
Quoted from Medisinyl:All subjective, but hard for me to believe if the game came with such ruins and a figure from the actual movie, that if someone came out with a mod to look like the factory red rails, that anyone one would look at those and think the red rails are a better fit
So fix it.
Quoted from Medisinyl:Have my friend Marissa full time, and just added part time help this weekend from a friend that has different full time job.
Slowly working toward a future with more time available, but as noted, I'll be driven toward what I'm most passionate about, and "farming out" my work strictly to boost profits isn't in my vision/business model, though I realize many won't understand how this autistic creature operates, though whatever I'm doing seems to be working in upholding how I see things should be, and many appreciate my hands on or close supervision method in everything I do, rather than something mass produced.
Also glad to see others able to resell what they've supported me on for often 2-4x what I charged, so it also prevents throwing the value down to nothing (not something everyone cares about, but it also supports how I like to run things and provide value in hand made products that have a soul).
Noted, but you may also give some thought to what your customers are passionate about too. If i understand you at all, you want to make the pinball world better.
People aren't clamouring for the Rob Zombie range so much, but these guy's really want these rails available. It's not all about extra profit, i think you still want to be of service to the community.
I'm happy with how my machine looks, not a modder anyway, so I'll leave you alone and stop nagging. Probs get enough of that from your family.
Have a great day.
Quoted from Medisinyl:Only ~300 made, but ~50% of RZ games are modded with at least the LDG Mausoleum (Charlie Emory was my first buyer[sent everything I made free after that] ). Still get PMs about RZ, but those are long discontinued.
Just used it as example.
I'm not a modder, mine were all in there when i got it, mostly have fallen to bits though, chicken sign and such is in the coinbox, as the thing on the spinner. Ribs are not as busted up as my own, but i bet they are sore.
The hologram dead girl is the best mod i've ever seen. Is that one yours?
Edit; I forgot about Jimmy's 86 pixel backboard display in my Tron.
Second best mod ever is the Living Dead Girl.
