Yes. Mirco is ready just need permissions.

I'm not in a big rush for one. I need new cabinet purchased first.
Thanks for the update

It means: this is far-far away. Sad but true.
Hey All,
I'm going to be making the airball mod protectors very soon. I need to acquire a set as I sold all my old stock. I know of a set locally that I will be acquiring. I'll post them in the market section when ready.

Honestly, this is the best 'mod' i ever installed in my IJ. It completely changed the game, especially after i rebuilt my flippers. I will be in for an extra set, just in case the first one you made ever gives way.

I’m also in for a set. Just picked up another Indy!
Quoted from paynemic:I’m also in for a set. Just picked up another Indy!
I would also be in for the airball mod protectors.
Airball protection should be made of three parts:
1 Mode start hole (POA) to prevent short cicuit in the switch matrix
2 Target Bank (Jackpot) to prevent heavy airballs and lost balls over the left outlane
3 Lost Treasure (secret ball) to prevent damage of the Bi-Plane and plastics.
Hey guys, what pitch do most of you have your IJ set at?
Sometimes, we find it kinda tough to make the right ramp so we have it set at a lower pitch. However, this does make the game a bit more floaty.
Also, do you typically check your pitch between the flippers or higher up the pf?
I’ve often done it both ways in the past. We use a digital level.
Thanks!

Look great

Bought two of them. One is the original.
Quoted from jjoravec:Anyone know where I can get a new Translite for IJ? Is there anyone making Repros.
Thanks
I've got a spare. I think it's a repo. I'll pm ya and you can let me know if ya want it..

who was making the airball protectors again?

I bought mine from MrPinball Australia. They have them on stock
I think it's pretty good. Shipment went well (I live in the Netherlands)

I do not care who makes them and I take no money for it.
I do not know what the status is.

Yep The shiny one is my original from the game

What protectors are you claiming to have made the prototypes for? I'm a bit unclear...
Hawkeye
That is the diode they are talking about using the protectors for.
The ball can and does hit it, and causes switch issues.
Cruise this thread for symptoms and fixes.
Quoted from hawkeyexx:Today I started removing ramps and plastics so I can install LEDs. I noticed this diode that was under the POA. I would assume the ball can hit this diode. [quoted image]
It can and it will. The diode is sitting too low. The legs are too long. Cut them and solder the diode a little higher up and add a cliffy protector to protect that diode. Contact Cliffy

I actually just bought the protector from Cliffy. Perfect fit and easy to install.

I am tired of airballs. My playfield is brand new, I don't want to see more dimples due to airballs. I am working on a protector set for all areas, focusing on design and function as well. The concept is ready, need to print and laser it next week.

Put me down for a set

More shatter proof? Did people have issues with your first run of protectors?

Make sure you put some mylar on the inside of the cliffy to prevent a possible short

I had a couple that broke. Games that were routed, etc. Keep in mind you are talking about a piece of plastic that is being repeatedly slammed by a metal ball. Nothing will last forever, just like playfield plastics that don't get nearly the abuse. However, for $25 it they last you a couple years that is a minor investment for such a drastic change in playing experience. Let's face it, without this mod the game is frustrating to play.
Can someone post a photo of their flippers in up/down position? I can only cradle very slow moving balls on my machine. I think I would like it more if I had a higher 'up' angle. Not sure if I have the proper travel on mine.

I agree
Quoted from Averell:Against airballs and short circuit under the POA - you see at post #3713.
Well, that's a pretty cool version you came up with for a prototype of the airball deflector. Is it possibly you never saw post #1235?

Just so we don't re-write history for some of the newer club members, I thought of this idea just a bit under 2 years ago after looking at @maffewl's creation on his Stern POTC. Not saying mine was original by any means, but then Djshakes asked me if I was going to make them. I toyed with the idea, but in the end didn't have the time. DJ has done a great service to the club by making and distributing these. And his are much more refined with rounded corners. I recommend these to anyone as they have completely changed the gameplay for my IJ.
While I was waiting for my next appointment to show up yesterday I started removing ramps and plastics. This poor pin is going to need lots of repairs. Anyone using titan rings? If so does anyone recommend any color rings? I keep finding all kinds of repairs it will need.

Normally when this happens, someone has installed the wrong flipper rebuild kit. In your case, either the stop is too long or the plunger is too long or both. If either of these happens, the flipper doesn't travel as far as it should.

Good idea George.

I put orange rings on my machine except for on the mini play field where I put red. My starposts, however, are the orange/amber color not the yellow. I'll post some pics tonight to give you an idea.

I installed colored rings on my IJ and I really like them. I used a combination of orange, yellow, green and some red rings from Titan. On your restoration: Take it step by step, ask questions and don't cut corners and you'll be fine. I just finished my first ever restoration and couldn't have done it without pinside to be honest with you. I have a lot of people to thank (and I will) for helping and guiding me along the way. I'll document my restoration soon! Any Q's, just ask
Thanks everyone for your input. I hope to have the MPU board next week. I would like to make some minor repairs to it and play it. The right flipper sticks and the left kicker will not move. I'm going to order a coil sleeve kit from Marco.
@Pinzap: Wow, that video is really cool and shows how much energy the ball have if they smash back to the left outlane.
I forgot to show the fourth part of my protectors... not designed for the airballs, just to protect the custom made blimp and it works.
Another positive effect is, that you can change the switch for a lost ball if it doesn't touch the contact in the left outlane.

I dunno about the orange on orange. Seems like too much orange to me.
Maybe white rubber?
But if you like it, go for it!
