Game has been flawless since I acquired.
Stored it for a couple of months, which consisted of putting the headboard down and moving a room over. Set it back up and upon firing it up, received the following error messages:

1 - ERR. MINI PFD. BAD CHK. SWITCHES/MTR
2 - ERR. IDOL BAD CHK. SWITCHES/MTR
3 - ERR. DROP BNK BAD CHK. SWITCH/COIL
4 - ER. SINGLE DRP. BAD CHK. SWITCH/COIL
5 - CHECK SWITCH 94 MINI PFD. RIGHT
6 - CHECK SWITCH 95 MINI PFD. LEFT
7 - ER. SNGLE DRP. BAD CHK. SWITCH/COIL

Also LED D19 is off and D20 is flashing.

Measure the test point for 12 volts opto power on the power driver board. And see if the 12 volt fuse is good.

Thanks LTG and PinballManiac40.

F116 was blown. Replaced it and it keeps blowing.

TP1 only shows 0.4 volts, but I assume I can't measure this correctly without a fuse that won't blow.

Suggestions?

bump for the morning crowd.

If your 12v is blowing on power up, I would test the Bridge Rectifier that feeds F116 for a short. Pinwiki has all of thetesting details.

#7 7 years ago

Probably the bridge and cap but you can always pull J116, J117 and J118 to see if it's a load issue. If it still blows with those pulled then it's the bridge and or cap. If your 12V comes back at TP1 comes back then it's a load problem on pin 2.

Bridge rectifiers normally cause fuses to blow because one of the AC inputs shorts over to the (+) or (-) output when it fails.

Thanks for the pointers gents.

Will update in a couple days.

Took a while to get a replacement BR and long work days stalled the replacement, but Indy works like a charm!

Missed this game!

Thanks gents and Merry Christmas!

Hi All,

Not sure if it is better to start a new thread or jump in on this one...

I have an IJ with similar problem to above ?

Both the mini playfield and the idol motors will not function.
Same errors show up as the ops above
LED 7 is out on the power driver board.
I tested TP1 and was getting nothing... maybe half a volt...
J112 connector looked ok and still had power through the F116 fuse.

Is the problem the bridge rectifier at the top left of the power driver board ?
If yes, I guess try reflowing the solder joint first and then replace if needed ? 35A 200v

Thanks in advance for any advice. I read a bunch of threads about folks doing work that doesnt need to get done and then making things worse.

You could pull the board and with a meter compare readings of the legs to other bridge rectifiers.

Then consider replacing if it is different from the others.

You need to check this out just as this OP has done.

thanks guys. will pull the board and check out the rectifier... appreciate all the advice on this site. I would not even be this far without everyone's posting and help. glad to hear I am headed in the right direction...

Can't say I ever seen a solder problem on a bridge rectifier unless it was previously replaced. Even then it may be more of a damaged feedthrough.
