Check the pitch/level of your game. This used to happen regularly on my game, until I raised the legs in back up higher to give the ball more forward momentum rather than horizontal. It still happens in my game, but only very rarely.
Edit: Maybe I read this wrong- is your post not even coming up to stop the ball? If so it could be a switch issue. Or a mechanical issue if your post is binding or getting stuck in the down position.
