Recently picked up a restored IJ. As soon as I began playing it I noticed that compared to a different IJ I had owned the coils in the flippers seem to be much more powerful. I am getting a lot of air balls which I never had with my prior game. The flippers have the stock FL11629 on 1 flipper and the appropriate replacement W1274 on the other. But definitely these coils seem to be very powerful.

My prior game was never restored but the flippers had been well maintained and rebuilt.

Today a ball hot off the left flipper shattered one of the targets in the 3 target bank. Any ideas?

Quoted from LTG:

Weaker coils. Save your plastics and drop target in the back.
FL-11753 (yellow) weakest
FL-11722 (green)
FL-11630 (red)
FL-15411 (orange)
FL-11629 (blue) strongest
LTG : )

Thanks Lloyd. I’ve owned many 1990s W/B games and never had a game launch so many balls.

Seems like a good plan. I’ll order a set of weaker coils.

Quoted from Ricochet:

I run 29s... with air ball guards. I’ve never shattered a drop target but that may be because they are new and somewhat flexible.

Where do you get the air ball guards?
