Can someone verify if there is supposed to be a diode attached to the start button?
I am having sporadic problems with the game adding players and occasional slam tilts.
Thanks in advance.

Check your manual. It's part of the switch matrix. It has one. There, or already on the coin door interface board.

I suspect your problem is elsewhere. Switch wired wrong. Diode on backwards. A short to switch wiring. Check stand up targets for lugs too close together and any ramp switch or anything balls could get too.

And on your game, the front right switch on the path of adventure gets hit by balls underneath, check that first.

Your other switches are all wired the same, white wire there, green wire there, black end of diode to white wire, silver band end of diode to lug by itself. Don't worry about what color stripe is on these wires for a quick look see.

Thanks… Looks like the diode is on the coin door interface board.
Ill follow your advise on the switches and check the connectors on the interface board.

Typically, if you are getting player adds, its because the Mini Playfield Bottom Outhole diode is crushed/shorted. The diode can be hit by the ball.

If you are getting slam tilts, you may check the other diodes in the row and column listed above... Columns 1 and 2, rows 1 and 3.

Edit: For instance, Row 1 column 1 (single drop top) could affect both slam tilt AND start button. So could the ticket opto.. which I might assume you don't have...

Hope this helps,
-Wes

Update:
It was switch 73... the diode was smashed causing the switch to be closed.
