No wonder I rarely see a Hit the Deck come up for sale. There was only 375 made by Gottlieb back in 1978.
Wonder how many are still around? Don't believe I've ever played one of those.
The add-a-ball version was called Neptune, and there was only 270 of those produced, and 531 Poseidon (for export to Italy).
A lot of roll-over lanes and roll-over buttons on those machines. Decent artwork too.

I'd prefer to get hit on by a mermaid in beautiful condition.

Which Pinsider here would be bested suited to serve as Secretary of Dept of Pinball Commerce?
Several seem smart, but some are rather polarizing. Who could unite us the best to help move us fwd?

To be fair to all sides, we really should get input from the seller and the buyer. If either is not on Pinside, then contact them via email and direct them to this thread, help get them signed up on Pinside, etc.

Quoted from presqueisle:

Looks like someone left the EM Hangout door open again.

Quoted from boilerman:

that was my thought. we need a secret password to get in

Quoted from o-din:

"potato chips"

Quoted from boilerman:

Quoted from Darcy:

'Hot Buttered Popcorn'

Quoted from Frax:

'old farts and sweet tarts'

We better agree on the codename/password to avoid confusion as has happened before (codename Hardhat, Hardhead, Lardass)

Quoted from Mikala:

Wow! Truly amazing how this thread blew up. I don't have time now, but I am looking forward to reading through it later.

Well no mind blowing revelations, but it has been a pretty good thread. It helped that a lot of people here recognized that Frax was disappointed that he missed out on a somewhat uncommon 1978 Gottlieb e-m wedgehead Hit the Deck and wanted to vent a bit.
Likewise, Frax didn't get all bent out of shape with some of the posts by others, and let us have a little bit of fun.

1979 was the last year Gottlieb produced e-m's, so Hit the Deck (and related 1978 Neptune/Poseidon) were near the end of the great era of Gottlieb e-m flipper pinball machines.

Everyone's a comedian.

You may want to include one of the passwords/codenames listed on pg 3 of this thread topic on your next post.
I see that you are not yet Pinside "verified", and it seems like some of the regular e-m guys are trying to keep some of the trolls and riff raff out of the EM Pinball Hangout area. You know, don't want to rock the boat too bad while talking about Hit the Deck.

golfingdad gets it. See his post # 154 above on this pg.

p.s.: Hardhead, Lardass, and propane are not approved passwords.
