Since pinball has peaked and everyone is leaving the hobby ...

Kidding aside, I do occasional think about how expensive this hobby can be. I typically couple that thought with the "what else do I want to do in life?" - which brings me to the ultimate question: If I sold my entire pinball collection, what would I do with that money?

Would I accelerate my retirement? Would I put it toward a new hobby? Or do I live life and spend it all on hookers and blow?

How about you Pinside? If you sold your entire pinball collection, what would you do with the money?

You left off the option "Buy a new pinball collection".

When I sell out, I'm done. Retirement can't come soon enough (because having a real job sucks!) and I'm looking at it right here in the basement, lets keep those prices pumping.......LOL.

I chose travel, but tacos was tempting.

    Nervous breakdown...

    #10 3 months ago

we've all thought about it...the peace of mind of no repairs, finding replacement parts, diagnosing problems, worried about shitty clear coats, worried about failures on location, worried about mistreatment of pins on location.

then...you realize you'd probably want them back (or at least some of them). it's life, always on the the fence.

You must have all high end pins and more than 15

    #14 3 months ago

    I think the poll needs:
Doesn't matter cause I will be dead when they sell my collection.

    #15 3 months ago

Let me know what you are selling, I cannot pay in tacos. Are chichangas acceptable?
I can PayPal chimichangas as freind and family.

    #19 3 months ago

My whole collection is out on route. Need something at home now. I think I’d like to always have 1 at home.

    #20 3 months ago

I'd spend at least some of it on some other pinball games.

I'll tell you something I learned, that pinball games take up a lot of room. And honestly no matter how many different ones you get more or less they're all the same. How many do you really need? I think the guys on this site that have about five, get bored of one or two then trade them to someone else have it right on the money.

I have or had about 34 games at the peak, I'm selling off about 10 of them. I realized stick to the game that mean the most to you, mainly the themes that appeal to you and roll with that. So I'm in the middle right now of selling a ton of games, what am I going to do with the money who knows.

If I sold every game I have it would be around 200k. I can't believe I bought that many games. Holy cow!

I have my eyeballs on several things, a lambo maybe, lake house, something along those lines more or less.

I'm going to get down to about 20 games which is still overkill! LOL

    LAMBO here I come!

You thought you were buying a hooker and ended up with hook. That's the real reason.

    Quoted from Daditude:

You don't sleep much, do you?

I get enough. Could have really used more this morning. But now feel fully rested like I've been asleep all day. Maybe I have.

Dying of cancer dammit!! Giving my 16 games to my friends , creating 16 more pinball heads .keep the hobby alive

Boats are way more expensive and fun than pinball.

8-3/4 is strong enough for stock 440 DANA too much extra reciprocating mass for the street!

I don't know what I'd do, probably buy a house to flip. After taking a nice vacation.

If I could easily sell all my pinballs or 80% of them I would consider doing it. Since the sale would be so difficult. I'll die with them haha

I don't know is this is your current situation. It sounds like it is. Really sorry to hear this but this is a really beautiful move! You will live on in your collection and I am sure every time one of those friends plays a game they will remember you.

    Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

    Why stop at the pins?

I’m taking a hard look at everything right now...cars, trucks, trailers, this f’ing energy hog house with these ceilings that require a 20ft ladder just to change the air filters. People come over and say “wow nice” but I’m completely miserable with it all right down to the toxic air I’m breathing, the toxic water I’m drinking and the toxic attitudes of people in general (I’ve been road raged on 3 times this past month, hey I drive slow and safe)

So why not a tiny house on a clean island without this radio active phone lodged up my ass 24/7?

Pinball collectors are a bunch of pikers compared to his guy.

Sells off his entire collection of 150 fancy restorer collector cars. Then what does he do next?

Starts over, buying cars again, that’s what.

Sounds good to me. Whats even better is to keep ur collection and also get some hookers and blow for what would be probably the greatest pinball party one could ask for. I've done that many times with more than 1 girl and its greatness, but damn what a dent to the old wallet.

    ‘62 SS 409 would work.

    Probably a F430 spyder or another 911 turbo; maybe a 992 cab.

Done this one already. Me when I was in college. 1962 Impala convertible SS 409.
“4 speed Dual Quad Positraction 409”
Put it together from pieces that took me two years to find. That damn car would scare pants off you if you stomped it to the floor!
