Quoted from Pinplayer1967:

I would buy commodities. Precious metals, guns, ammunition, prepper stuff for the upcoming apocalypse.

It’s time to rewatch this comedy classic. “You don’t shoot a man’s gun!!”

Quoted from pinzrfun:

I've thought of selling a bunch and paying off the mortgage, but then I wouldn't really need the big game room so what's the point?
Sit around debt free staring at the walls?

I paid off our mortgage that had a 2.875% fixed interest rate about a year ago. Mentally, it has such a satisfying effect that made it worth it to me. To be able to say you outright own a 2 Million dollar home in CA, has been very satisfying. Additionally, my savings account is very quickly growing now that I don't have that huge mortgage. I'm not trying to sound like an arrogant jerk, just trying to make my point that paying off your mortgage is a good thing. By the way, a 2 mil house in CA Bay Area is just a very average home. Nothing special.

Can we put that in perspective? What is sq footage? If you don't want to share that's cool. I'm just curious because where I live is dirt cheap.

4 bed 2 1/2 bath 2000 sq ft. Lot is 6500 sq ft. The neighborhood has low crime rate and nearby high school has a 9 out of 10 rating.

Some people might question, why not sell, move out of CA and live like a king. 1) It's literally 67 degrees outside right now in the dead of winter. 2) I want to be able to sell years down the road, as its' value grows, and there will be enough equity for my 2 kids to get their own home.

I paid $375k for it in 1998. Also prop 13 in CA, allows you to keep your same purchase price taxes, regardless how much your home appreciates.

You're in a good spot because once you are 55 and older you can sell your home for $2mil to downsize, buy another home in state for that same $2mil and you will still keep your original $375k based property taxes. I think we're the only state that does that.

Does anyone else measure all expenses in life in units of pins? New car, 4 pins! Remodel the kitchen? Christ, that’s 10 pins!

My wife used to say her family always used to compare things using gallons of milk. “You want that new shirt for school? That’s 10 gallons of milk!”

Feel like I either need to re-assess my priorities or count my blessings if I start using pinballs as my opportunity cost.

A couple times I had to sell 5 or 6 at once to cover payroll at my business.

It's all good, I had too many for me to keep running and most of them are getting a lot more love now up at District 82. Kinda sucked that it was just before prices really took off, though!
