ZZ top are strictly a theater/state fair act these days. They haven't really been popular for about 25 years and haven't had anything close to a hit since Rollergames was new. Nobody under the age of 40 is gonna be familiar with their look, songs, and act.

    So...horrible, horrible idea.

    Also a terrible idea.

And I like ZZ top (though it's disappointing to watch Billy Gibbons lip sync his way through half their shows these days)

    Quoted from KingNine:

I respectfully disagree. I just saw them a year ago and definitely was not lip synced. They still draw crowds and there was young and old alike jamming to classic tunes.
I think all your arguments could have been used for AC/DC before it was made as well.

You are definetly wrong. On most "eliminator" and onwards songs - the ones with massive backing tracks of synths like Sharp Dressed Man and Pincushion - the lead vox have been lip synced for years. The beard makes it super easy lol.

And those arguments certainly could NOT have been made for ACDC, that's ridiculous and makes no sense. When the pinball machine was in development, ACDC was coming off a huge #1 multiplat album in Black Ice (it was the biggest selling rock release the year it came out), and a sold out tour of gigantic arenas and even football stadiums.

ZZ Top like I said hasn't tasted that kind of success since Dukakis was running for President.

ZZ Top is largely forgotten today by the masses as anything other than a pop culture footnote. Their albums don't sell at all, and they play casinos, theaters, and state fairs. You cannot compare ZZ Top's current popularity to ACDC's in any way shape or form.

If you need your ZZ top pin fix play HS2, BTTF, or Lethal Weapon 3. It's a terrible idea for a new pin release and it will never happen. There are dozens of rock acts that would make more sense.

Everyone thinks everything they like and the public has a passing interest in would make a great pinball theme, even if they are really off base.

I like to point out how wrong people are when they do this.

    It's fun.

Fun is what sells pinball machines.

They should make pointing out how others' pinball theme ideas are bad into a pinball machine.

You ain't seen nothing yet until they make a music pin featuring Bachman Turner Overdrive.

Only if the game plays Taking Care of Business on a neverending loop.

    Quoted from JC_Pins:

See below, lastest album "La Futura" actually peaked higher then Eliminator, and I do think it is one of their best.
"ZZ Top’s first studio album in a lengthy nine years, La Futura, enjoyed a major showing on the Billboard 200 chart this week, landing at No. 6 and selling 31,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. ."

Now I know you are just reaching here but nobody should be talking Billboard rankings these days, especially when trying to compare them with "the old days."

I guarantee you "Eliminator" sold about 10 times what Futura did in it's first first week regardless of where it was ranked. Maybe 20. Soundscan rankings are pretty irrelevant these days. Selling 2,000 copies of something can get you in the top 200, 30 years ago that would have been a joke.
