Although I’ve restored quite a few machines over the years, I’ve never found a really good and easy way to sand the inside of cabinets. I’ve hand sanded with 80 grit paper and a block, with a sanding sponge, and with a (cheap) mouse sander and 60 grit paper. On occasion I’ve even resorted to a belt sander with 80 grit paper!
There’s something about pinball black dust and whatever else accumulates over the years that can make it really hard to remove. Plus it’s difficult to get into the corners, although I’ve had some luck with the detail extension for my mouse sander. Below is a pic of my Elvira that I’ve already started sanding, but man it’s a slow, inefficient process.
Has anybody found a tool and process that works quickly, without requiring a ton of time to produce a nice, clean surface?
Thanks in advance!
