I also added another alien to the playfeild near the upkick return from the alien head lock hole, as seen in the 2 photos with red flasher on in the background, and another shot of it with the (blue) lit up ship bearing down on it from behind.
Last an ID4 alien topper perched on the top.
Very nice, my containment tube is ordered
That was just what i was looking for to complete the machine.

JoachimR,
FYI:
1.I had to cut the tube down about 1/2" to clear glass.
2.Heated a pan and melted the base of the tube to the appropriate angle for it to sit level on the playfield plastic.
3.I used this lamp socket in the containment tube.(remove shade)
http://www.marcospecialties.com/product.asp?ic=077-5026-XX
4. I filed the original hole in the base (where push button was) large enough to insert the lamp socket (hot glued in place)
5. Made the hole in the center of the base larger for more bulb light to exit.
6. Made a reflective (bottom)cover for the base (below the bulb) with alum.foil onto duct tape to reflect all of the light upwards in to the tube. (hot glued to base bottom)
6.Used the lamps existing mounting bracket (with hole in it) to secure the entire thing to the playfield plastic with existing screw.
7. Wired it in with the existing alien head spot light.
Really nice work, manowar43! This is the kind of mod that people would pay good money for. They only made about 1500 ID4s, but there still might be a market out there for it. If I were you, I would post a thread about it on all the pinball forums to see if there is any interest. Can it be made so it is plug and play?
Here is a link to a video of the mod in action:

Thanks!
I hope to post videos of all of my machines in action on Youtube. I know I searched there a lot while I was Pin shopping, and there just isn't enough videos of different machines in action.
Chris Bucci's are the best.
Seems to be a very popular mod. I placed mine just left of the left ramp.
I too removed the stock light and installed a 555 led in the base hooked into the GI's.
Placement seems to be a personal preference.
On the last one mounted on the pop, I would think it blocks the upper lane view.
The first pic position I tried that but it got in the way with lifting of the pf for tweeking.
Looks good no matter where it is placed...good mod.
The reason I placed it there is because I felt like it was ment to stand there and the standard plastic that it sits on is easy to reproduce (I have a spare one from a parts machine since last month ) I also have wondered what the purpose of that platsic is since it doesn't really ads something in the line of art or practical use(stop airbals or something).
You are right on the upper lane view, but you can see it well enough if you lean to the left for a better view. Also without the mod the visability wasn't perfect. In other words you get used to it and getting the max multiplier is still very doable
