A few of you might recall Iceman and I made a little bet back earlier in the year ...

Ice was amped to get his preordered JPOP pins before Xmas 2014 ... I bet Ice a case of beer that he wouldn't get his JPOP games this year. Ice was keen to get his hands on some quality Kiwi beers so he grabbed it with both hands.

Well, unfortunately it doesn't look like Ice is getting his games this year, so he manned up big time and sent me the funds for a case of beer!!

So as promised Ice, here's a picture of your beers in front of the Auckland Skytower! I went with Mexican Tecates as they were on special. Nice!

    Cheers Iceman!!

Both of you deserve congrats on this one!

RD for winning the bet, and Iceman for coming through and sending the beer across the world.

    Enjoy.

See how nice we can be on Pinside?

    Free beer from Texas! Nicccccccccce!

The NZ Rugby League test match has just started on TV so that should make a dent in the stash

RD, you should re-up the bet for 2cases for Xmas 2015!

    It's 4.20pm Saturday afternoon. Aka Beer O'Clock.

Dunno about lime on Tecate, I'll try that. Coronas need a lemon or lime every time.

Flanker, that had crossed my mind to be honest. But you can't kick a man when he's down.

Are you heading to the All Blacks vs USA rugby in Chicago tomorrow?? That'd be a good date for you and Mrs Flank ...!

    #8 9 years ago

usually in Texas, we'll serve most all mexican beers with lime.
the border towns in Mexico do too.

now... i can speak for those "almost yankees" way up north in Dallas

    plus, with enough Cerveza...

    Yes you can.

Nope, we have plans for a pinball party in Chicago area though, Lebowski!!!!!

I can predict the final score of it, NZ 76-0 USA

    #10 9 years ago

Big props to Iceman for being a man of his word. That's rare these days.

    #11 9 years ago

    Well, yeah ... I guess so ...

Well, you may well be right there. Probably a 50 point margin. NZ is not playing its "a" team but there is still some pretty handy players. I believe it is being shown live in the USA on an NBC channel?

    Exactly.

Full credit to the Ice. We kiwis were so impressed we made a beer with his name on it in his honor.

First of all very cool to see us come together across the world and despite occasional disagreements it all is good.
But now it's time to stop pissing around and have a real drink.image-921.jpgimage-921.jpg

Exactly! If there's ever anyone who needs some "magic mesh" it's my old mate Odin!

His invisi-screen (TM) door is a recipe for disaster!!

Someone text me and asked what/who Subtract was on my shirt.

They're a local Auckland metal band I've seen a bunch of times.

    Here you go ...

    #19 9 years ago

these guys should open for them

hmm... if someone saw both of them, would it be a neutral experience?

Ahhhh yes, love me some Tecate with a lime! Come on down to Texas anytime boys, we can "un citify" you purty quick.

I know Dave, being a beer man, knows how to pronounce it, but if you other Cali type city slickers go out and get some of this nectar of the gods then remember, its not "Tee Cate" like a buddy of mine from Kansas told the bartender one time when we were out! It's "Te Ca te" And you say it with a Mexican accent.

"Andele, me gusta uno mas cerveza por favor!"

Classic all time Pinside pic with Odin and that screen door!

A mexican dude told me years ago the reason they put lemon/lime in the beers down there is to keep flies out of the beer bottles. Makes sense ...

930am Sunday here and I'm watching the All Blacks play USA live from Soldier Field, Chicago.

28 minutes gone and its 31-6 to NZ. Maybe Flanks 70 point margin wasn't too far off ...

Scrum finally! USA looks good today

Funny they get to play on the worst turf of all the NFL

USA have looked good down the middle of the field.

Problem is they've been pretty compressed and the ABs have run around the outside time after time.

Good crowd! Wish I was there ...

I never would kick for the penalty points especially being an exhibition game. When you are knocking on the door just pound it in there. Dont wuss out.

The most impressive thing so far is the size of the beers the crowd has!!

They must be pint glasses! Twice the size we get at the games here.

Weird watching a game at Soldier Field and the crowd not booing the home team.

Wayne "Buck" Shelford. I'm not sure there is a more gruesome sports injury story ever!

Getting your nut sack torn by a cleat in the bottom of a gnarly "ruck" and then have the "balls" to get up and jog off with your nut sack hanging out of your shorts.

Go over to the bench to have it sewn up and then go back in the game! I'd say that dude is pretty tough.
